AND THE LORD HELPED ME

Day 16 of the 40 Days of Prayer for Mercy opens mid-fire, with Pastor Jerry declaring that anything not in line with God's will "must be altered on this altar." He calls out wheelchairs he sees lifted, tells women waiting on the fruit of the womb to "carry your evidence right now," and announces that families under his voice "will no longer record premature death." Salvation is offered early, before the prayer proper begins.

The whole prayer then collapses into one word: help. He builds it from Isaiah 50 - "The Lord will help me, who shall condemn me? They shall wax old as a garment and the moth shall eat them up" - and drives the congregation into a long chant of "I am not helpless," stacking scripture after scripture behind it (Psalm 23:5, Romans 8:37, 1 John 4:4, Job 8:7, Isaiah 59:19, Haggai 2:9). He names the kinds of help God gives: early help, angelic help, generational help, mega help, "help that breaks protocol," help "where mortals are carried by immortality" - and prays against wicked help, "the counsel of Ahithophel," people who help you in order to trap you, and anyone recruited to help your oppressor: "The Egyptians are men, and not God… he that helpeth shall fall."

The prophetic edge of the morning: "Before 7:00 p.m. Nigerian time, the Lord will show them that his hand is upon your life," and "watch what will happen in less than 24 hours." He tells anyone who has been told help is delayed or seasonal to shout "You lie," and preaches 2 Kings 7 - the lord on whose hand the king leaned, who scoffed at the word and was trampled at the gate - over every power saying "let me see how you will be helped."

Words of knowledge follow in a long healing sweep - cancers, a blood clot nearing a heart, tuberculosis of the spine, a disease of the white matter of the brain, hemorrhoid turned anal cancer, left-side paralysis - each with the same instruction: "If you are the one, put it on the live stream. The devil is a liar. Let it be reversed." He then prays over a seed of thanksgiving whose narration is to read: "And the Lord helped [your name]."

Six testimonies play: two immigration reversals (a permanent residence approval, and a UK 10-year ban lifted and visa granted), a green card after a country ban list, Mrs Happiness of Port Harcourt whose mother is cancer-free after a breast cancer diagnosis, a broke Abuja real estate salesman who now waves his own car key, and Linda, who left God for ten years, lost pregnancies and was told her tubes were blocked - and now stands as a mother of two. Pastor Jerry's take-home from her: "When her focus became God, God handed her evidence."

Three communions close the service - early help, generational help, and a communion of answers - before the day's declaration is handed out to be written everywhere: "And the Lord helped me."

1. Early help - for the area of your life where you need help early.
2. Generational help - "God seeing you is seeing a generation behind you."
3. Communion of answers - taken on your knees, asking the Lord for three specific things you desire of him.

Testimonies played / recapped

• Immigration (permanent residence): work permit expired in 2025 despite careful planning; discouraged in prayer until a friend shared NSPPD. Stayed consistent on the altar, held the word Pastor Jerry declared over immigration, was invited from nowhere to apply for permanent residence - application approved.
• UK visa / 10-year ban: received an invalid Certificate of Sponsorship from a UK employer; visa refused and the Home Office issued a 10-year ban on a deception allegation. Got another COS, reapplied, and during that period Pastor Jerry declared "where they said no, they are saying yes." Kept the first 14-day fast without missing a day - visa granted and the 10-year ban removed.
• Green card: filed February 2024, stuck in a backlog with her country placed on a ban list. Held the word "you may not see the wind, you may not see the rain, but your valley will be full of water." Now a permanent resident of the USA, wearing green with the card in hand; said she can't wait to see him in Houston.
• Mrs Happiness, Port Harcourt, Rivers State: her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024; a sister had died of it and two nieces (one in the US) were also diagnosed. People told her to give up and prepare for the funeral, and that the fight was too money-intensive. Friends (sister Chidinma, and her boss's wife Joyce) told her to connect her mother to the fire altar; her mother claimed every declaration on breast cancer. Her mother is alive, healthy and cancer-free.
• Bright (real estate salesman, Abuja): came to Abuja broke after losing his job, lost a second job there, survived on calls asking people for as little as ₦5,000, and once went January to November without a single sale - his company nearly rusticated him. After this year's 14-day fast, on the Monday morning after, a long-standing client called from the bank and paid outright, plus additional exclusive purchases; his chairman phoned to congratulate him. He used to trek to church with his family - he is now a car owner, and waved the key on the altar.
• Linda: stopped going to church for 10 years after her mother died and said she hated God. Married 2019, first son 2020. In 2023 a pregnancy was found to have stopped developing at 5 weeks 5 days when she should have been 14 weeks; a friend, Juliet, sent her the NSPPD link. She lost that pregnancy and another, nearly dying; an HSG found her tubes blocked. She gave her life to Christ on the altar and told God, "Whether you give me another child or not, I'm going to serve you." Her husband's career recovered, she got a job paying millions, and then - nearly two years after her last miscarriage - she found she was pregnant. On the 31st-night service where they were asked to write 31 things, she wrote only "Lord, please keep this baby for me." She gave birth to a baby girl and is now a mother of two: "I've broken that pattern."

1. The word for the day is help, and help is someone else's doing, not yours. "When the Lord helps a man, he knows you cannot do it by yourself" - the confession he wants is "I cannot help me, I cannot fix me, I cannot raise me, I cannot lift me."
2. Helplessness is not your identity. Isaiah 50 is the answer to condemnation: the Lord helps, so no one can condemn; the accusers wax old like a garment and the moth eats them.
3. God's help comes in kinds, and you should expect more than one. Early help ("that right early"), angelic help (the angel in Peter's prison, the angel on the stone), generational help, sudden help you were not planning for, help that breaks protocol, help that carries you as on eagles' wings - "that kind of help where mortals are carried by immortality."
4. One help from God answers a thousand prayer points. The help of God is your advantage, expertise, efficiency, sufficiency, competitiveness, abundance and uncommon advancement.
5. Not all help is God's help. The counsel of Ahithophel, help offered in order to trap or end you, and anyone recruited to help wickedness against you - all of it is to be rejected and reversed. "It looks like help, but it is the devil."
6. Anyone who says your help will be delayed, seasonal, or won't come, is lying - and 2 Kings 7 is what happens to them: the man who mocked the word saw it and was trampled at the gate.
7. It is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit - including for those who have prayed and fasted and are still stuck where they ought not to be; the hand of the Lord will pull you out.
8. Testimony is the point of the help. God is after the moment you can "boldly say, the Lord has helped us - man had no finger in this one," and after generational testimony, not a private relief.
9. From Linda's testimony: change your focus. God had to move her focus off the thing she wanted onto himself - and then handed her the evidence. Patterns in a family can be broken.
