DOMINION IN ALL SPHERES - PART 1

This is the Thursday-evening Word & Fire service, opening Part 1 of a teaching series on Dominion in All Spheres. Extended worship ("Only you are God", "Oh what a father we have in you", "Jehovah", "Is he worthy?") gave way to a call for God's presence and fire, built on Moses' plea in Exodus 33:16 - "if you do not go with us" - and Leviticus 9:23-24, where the glory appears and fire falls on the altar. The prayer leader pressed the point: "Anytime his glory appears, something happens… every time his glory appears, fire falls from heaven." The cry was, "Let your glory appear in this service; let your fire fall and clear every negativity, for we will walk in dominion."

The prayer session was long, loud and physical. From Psalm 8 ("what is man that thou art mindful of him… thou hast given him dominion over the works of thy hands") and Psalm 110:1 / Hebrews 2:8 ("all things under his feet, but we do not yet see all things"), the congregation was told to pray from the place of that knowledge - naming sin, addiction, sickness, delay and generational limitation and stamping their feet to put each one "under my feet". They were told to walk and march as they prayed, on the ground of Joshua 1:3 ("wheresoever the sole of your feet shall tread"), to "possess that land" in their office, academics, family and nation. Other movements: pulling down illegal occupants of the throne (Jezebel thrown down, Isaiah 47:1 "come down and sit in the dust"), Revelation 1:6's "kings and priests… we shall reign on the earth", the Philippians 2 name at which every knee bows, and a long chant of the Genesis 1:28 mandate - "I am fruitful, I multiply, I replenish, I dominate."

For the word, the congregation stood and read Genesis 39:2-6 - the Lord was with Joseph, made all he did to prosper, and Potiphar put everything into his hand. Pastor Jerry framed the night as an overview of the whole series. Dominion, he said, begins in Genesis 1:26: the making of man was linked to dominion, and God stretched it over the birds of the air (above your head), the fish of the sea (a habitat where you have no expertise), and the earth. Dominion is "first an identity, then a mindset, before it becomes a manifestation" - not a momentary conquest or a situational victory, but the institutionalisation of the conquering spirit, and a perpetual victory handed to generations yet unborn. His definition drew a cheer: "If you want to ask me, Pastor, what is the definition of dominion? It is when a city loses its name to two women" - Bethany, described as the town of Mary and Martha.

He then pushed against a small view of dominion: it is not a spiritual concept confined to church, not "pointing at a cockroach and commanding it to die", not a baritone voice. It is kingdom influence - "the power of God that has the capacity to overturn systems and structures" - and its logic is simply "as it is in heaven, so shall it be on earth." Because Christ has already finished the work, "I am not trying to dominate; what he asked me to dominate has already been dominated" - the snake's head is already cut off, and the thrashing body is only drama. The measure of kingdom dominion, he added from Galatians 4:1, is stature: an heir who is still a child differs nothing from a slave, so if dominion looks impossible to you, something is wrong with your growth.

From Joseph's life he gave the points of the overview. (1) Dominion came by his gift - the dream, the interpretations in prison, and finally Pharaoh's dream took him to second in Egypt; "when God was looking for an easy way to make you gain influence, he dropped a gift in you." In the parable of the talents, cities were the reward for talents; the lad's five loaves and two fish ended in twelve baskets. (2) Dominion over self - Joseph fled Potiphar's wife and later forgave the brothers who sold him, while Samson dominated nations but not himself, and David, staying back when kings went to battle, drew the prophecy that the sword would never depart from his house. (3) Dominion needs faith - Hebrews 11:22 lists Joseph among the heroes of faith for prophesying the exodus at his death; faith is not eloquence but "a deep conviction of the ability of God to superintend your affairs with or without natural alignment", and by Hebrews 11:1 faith is the evidence, not the producer of it. (4) The word refines you - Psalm 105:17-19, "until the time that his word came, the word of the Lord tried him"; refining is a gold-and-fire word, so "you didn't just come out with what you prayed for, you came out with who God wanted you to be." (5) Dominion is understanding of times and seasons - Joseph read the seven years of plenty and seven of famine, and "whatever we do in the seven years of plenty is what will sustain us in the seven years of famine."

The service closed with offerings, tithes and partnership lifted as a wave offering, the announcement block, a declaration of Psalm 91:1-2, and the charge repeated over the congregation: "Go and dominate."

1. Dominion was God's first thought about man. Genesis 1:26 links the making of man to dominion - and the word is let them have dominion, not persuade, suggest or negotiate. Dominion is a military term, not a civilian one; wherever you hear it, know there is an aggressor.
2. The mandate covers ground where you have no expertise. God gave dominion over the birds above your head and the fish of the sea though man is a terrestrial being - the unfamiliar terrain, the industry where you know nobody, is included.
3. Dominion is identity first, then mindset, then manifestation. It is not a momentary conquest or a situational victory; it is the institutionalisation of the conquering spirit and its enforcement in every sphere you find yourself.
4. It is generational. A perpetual victory handed to those yet unborn: "It will be an error for your children to grow up still breaking generational curses… I'm not going to leave battles for my children, I'm going to leave generational blessings."
5. Dominion is kingdom influence, not church vocabulary. It is the power of God with the capacity to overturn systems and structures; it is not a spiritual concept absent from the marketplace, not a cockroach dying at your word, not a baritone voice. Jesus is not coming down to be in charge - he needs to put you in charge.
6. Its logic is "as it is in heaven, so on earth." If there is no delay in heaven, you cannot be delayed on earth.
7. It is enforcement of a finished work. "I am not trying to dominate - what he asked me to dominate has already been dominated." The snake's head is already cut off; the body still moving is drama, not life.
8. The measure of dominion is stature. The heir who is still a child differs nothing from a slave. If dominion feels impossible to you, the problem is your growth, not the promise.
9. Your gift is your dominion. God dropped a gift in you as the easy way to give you influence - Joseph's dreams and interpretations took him from slave to second in Egypt. Talents earn cities; a rusty, neglected, under-used gift makes you ordinary. Stop looking down on it, stop preferring another's, stop standing on the sideline criticising yourself over one failure.
10. No dominion over things without dominion over self. Samson dominated nations but not himself; David stayed back when kings went to battle and the sword never left his house. There are rooms God will not take you into because self would embarrass him there. Don't let self sabotage the season you have prayed for, now that it is happening in front of you.
11. There is no dominion without faith. Faith is not eloquence of words but deep conviction that God can superintend your affairs with or without natural alignment - and by Hebrews 11:1, faith is itself your first evidence, received before the evidence you are waiting for shows up. Faith is your posture and behaviour, not only your speech.
12. The word refines you before the platform. Psalm 105:19 - the word tried him until his prophecy came. Refining is a gold word, a fire word: what feels like fire is producing the person God wanted, not only the thing you asked for.
13. Dominion is understanding of times and seasons. Joseph read the plenty and the famine and stored accordingly; those who understand end up leading those who don't.

• Pray from the knowledge that all things are already under your feet - name sin, addiction, sickness, delay and generational limitation and put each one there.
• Pray while moving: march and stamp on the ground, step into your office, academics, family and nation, and "possess that land" (Joshua 1:3).
• Declare through the night: "I dominate", "I sit on my throne, I wear my crown", "I rule, I reign, I dominate", "I am fruitful, I multiply, I replenish, I dominate", and "My father, my father, I dominate over self."
• Tell your neighbours: "Dominate" (seven of them), "Wake up that gift", "Do you have faith for this?" - and at the close, "Go and dominate" to fourteen people.
• Wake up, pray over, exercise and sharpen the gift God gave you - use it as though your life depends on it, even if you are only given two or five minutes.
• Keep self under subjection so that self does not sabotage the season you are entering.
• Declare Psalm 91:1-2 over yourself as you leave.
• Give your offering, tithe and partnership as a wave offering; be part of the church building project.
