THE RISE OF GLORIOUS WATCHMEN: NO SPACE FOR NEGATIVITY [PART 3]

This is the Thursday evening Word & Fire midweek service at Streams of Joy, the third night of the series "The Rise of Glorious Watchmen: No Space for Negativity". It opens with about half an hour of worship ("You are worthy", "Oh glorious God", "Your goodness is running after me", "Thou art worthy" with the 24 elders), framed by a prayer leader calling the church to come "for an encounter" and to awaken to its assignment: God "is looking for watchmen" on the walls of families and nations.

A long prayer session follows in the language of Isaiah 62. The church declares "I am a glorious watchman", refuses to rest or give the Lord rest "until my family becomes a praise upon the earth", rejects every name God has not called them, and breaks out on every side. Reminded that "this is the third day of this encounter" (Hosea 6:2), they pray against the "liars" that rise in the season of prophecy fulfilment, give "no room" to negativity, sweep out "the robbers that have set up shop on our way" with "a broom of fire", travail for what is missing in the household, and, like Jacob, refuse to take no for an answer. The cry of the night: "I am a watchman. My eyes are open, I am not blind. My ears are open. Nothing takes me unaware. Not under my watch."

Pastor Jerry then releases prophetic decrees ("You are a watchman with answers, a watchman with evidence ... a watchman the devil cannot invade") and words of knowledge over urinary incontinence, an autoimmune skin disease, an intestinal condition, tuberculosis of the spine, anorexia and failed lungs, adding: "Before the bad news gets to you, it will become good news."

The word comes from 2 Samuel 11:1-5. Watchfulness, he teaches, is the bundle that holds discernment, sensitivity to the Spirit and knowledge of the times; Eve, Samson and Judas each fell the moment they lost it. Kings go to war in the spring because it is harvest time and seasons are changing, so a sensed harvest is a signal for warfare. A king is a warrior before he is a king, and must never let "the luxury of the palace" make him forget "the ruggedity of a warrior". David won the outward war but lost the inward battle: he stayed back, stood on the rooftop, and let his focus drop below his height, to Bathsheba. "Man on the rooftop, I beg of you, don't look down." He closes by asking whether God can trust us with what is "uncovered": industry and governmental secrets and revelation.

The service ends with offering, tithes and partnership as a wave offering, announcements for tomorrow's grand finale and Mercy Sunday, decrees over the congregation as "watchmen on fire", and a Psalm 91 confession.

1. Watchfulness is a bundle: discernment, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, understanding of times and seasons, and knowing God's next move all live in it. Lose watchfulness and you lose all of them, and doors open to the devil; Eve, Samson and Judas each fell in the moment they stopped watching.
2. The devil can take a seat unnoticed, as in the church that housed "Satan's seat" without knowing, whether in a child, a bloodline, a school or a career. A watchman says "access denied".
3. Kings go to war in the spring because it is harvest time. If you sense a harvest coming, that is a signal for warfare, not relaxation; many lost harvests because their prayer life slackened just before it arrived.
4. A king is a warrior first; that is why he was made king. Never let the luxury of the throne or palace make you forget your sword. A crisis is God checking your armour, not abandoning you.
5. Seasons changing (another birthday, a new level) is the time for the king to go to war. What stopped your father wants to stop you, and patterns that change shape but stay the same must be broken.
6. Kings fight to secure territory and usually come back with more: fight for your health and return with your finances. "We are not fighting to win. We are fighting because we have won"; just declare the victory.
7. Kings go to war to lift the army's morale and teach them to fight. Stand for your children so they see a parent who is not confused or afraid; pray because prayer is breath, not only because of problems. "If God answers what you are praying about, will you still have a prayer life?"
8. David won the outward battle but lost the inward one. The foundation of decline is winning outside battles while prayer, study, fellowship and consecration are at zero.
9. The tragedy of a generation is being on a height while its focus is below its height. Every time you look down, the devil dangles a Bathsheba. The enemy's aim is not to throw you off the height but to shift your focus, through past mistakes, people's opinions and daily voices of failure. Raise your eyes to Jesus.
10. One rooftop mistake started a pattern of death and crisis in David's bloodline. If God shows a watchman what is uncovered, industry secrets, governmental secrets, revelation, can he or she handle it with integrity?

• Pray as a glorious watchman: refuse to rest or give God rest until your family, career and ministry become a praise upon the earth.
• Refuse every name God has not called you; declare "I have a new name" and "I am not going back" to delay, shame, weakness or coldness, and pray the same over family members so none becomes a black sheep.
• Give no room to negativity or the devil; sweep out whatever is not of God, and travail in prayer for what is missing in the household (a sister's marriage, a brother's lifting).
• Declare "My harvest will not be lost" and "I am awake, I am watchful"; say "access denied" over children, bloodline and career.
• Keep your prayer discipline as things get better, for example the hour of speaking in tongues; avoid "sloppy living" and "spiritual fat".
• Keep your focus up: don't look down from the rooftop, and guard what you watch and who you connect with.
• Give offering, tithes and partnership, and be part of the church building project.
• Share with a neighbour what blessed you tonight; walk up to 14 people and declare "I am a fireful watchman".
