GOLIATH HAS FALLEN//MOVE OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE [DAY 1]

Day 1 of the last week of May opens with worship on Hebrews 11:6 ("we know you are a rewarder of those who diligently seek your face") and the refrain "what you cannot do does not exist". Pastor Jerry starts by recounting a wonder from three weeks earlier: during the 7am prayers the Spirit told him someone was beside a dead woman and should turn up the phone volume and place it beside her. The mother had been confirmed clinically dead; when the prayer ended nothing happened and the daughter felt God had disappointed them, but five minutes later the mother came back to life. In the same week a woman whose husband had brain surgery was told he would stay unconscious for six months and might never walk. She answered the doctor, "What God cannot do does not exist", walked into the ICU, called her husband's name, and he opened his eyes; when staff were removing a window to carry him out on a stretcher, he stood up on his feet. He calls it "a revival of the strange acts of God".

The prayer section is built on two pictures put side by side: 1 Peter 2:5 ("I am a lively stone, built up by God into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood") and David's stone against Goliath. The cry of the day: "I am a lively stone. I am the stone that will bring you down." Whatever represents Goliath (cancer, delay, shame, sickness, addiction) is commanded to fall. He then turns Goliath's forty days of shouting into three lines of prayer: the enemy wasting your time ("enough is enough, no more wasting my time"), cycles and patterns that repeat "again and again", and the refusal to be silenced. Nobody in Saul's army answered Goliath until David came and spoke his victory before it happened, so "you cannot shut me up": if you close your mouth, you have accepted it. Prophetic declarations follow: a miscarriage that will not happen ("your baby will stay"), a wedding completed in three months, sickness and addiction that are "not who you are".

Words of knowledge cover Fragile X syndrome, a thyroid case, single ventricle heart disease, end-stage cancer with bleeding from the nose and ears, an organism eating a brain, a newborn born with a tumour, depression that came just as doors opened, dreams of dead parents giving instructions, and high-flying parents whose two children have dropped out onto the street. A further prayer deals with Goliath's "defy" (curse) released into the atmosphere: things released at night over offices, homes, cars, businesses and children's schools are reversed, and the atmosphere is declared one of miracles, healing, conception and elevation. Anointing oil is prayed over (Acts 10:38) and the congregation declares that this is a week of uncommon exploits and of rising higher.

Three video testimonies are played: a baker whose office caught fire with her miracle baby inside minutes after she unusually carried him upstairs; Turukay, delivered from 26 years of drug addiction; and a man who practised Judaism for 17 years, whose failing liver was found normal before 6pm the same day a word of knowledge was given. The service closes with the salvation prayer, one communion ("move over to the other side"), reflections from Pastor K and another pastor ("I am the stone; I don't need to pick one up"), Psalm 91 and the usual congratulations. Communion

• Office fire, 14 May: a baker who runs a training school and hostel (students from Burkina Faso and Yola) usually leaves her baby and nanny on the floor that caught fire. That morning, unusually, she carried the baby upstairs to the penthouse; within ten minutes smoke came through a locked door. All five were trapped on the balcony and brought down a ladder, her baker carrying the baby with one hand. Only the lounge burnt; nothing in the hostel was lost: "nothing missing, nothing broken". The baby was the one she thanked God for two years ago after five years of waiting and three failed IVF attempts.
• Turukay, 26 years of addiction: introduced to cannabis in 1999, then, after a job at Shell, codeine and Rohypnol ("reffo"), cocaine, heroin, "ice" and "colorado". Repeated hospital stays failed; his mother prayed from church to church. On NSPPD he heard the Spirit say "I have given you rest", then claimed Pastor Jerry's declaration "every addiction is reversed". The cravings lost their power and he now lives free.
• 17 years in Judaism, liver failure: on the 27th of the previous month he passed black urine; labs showed his liver "gone" (a niece said the result looked like a dead person's). After a family prayer on the 11th, at 2am on the 13th he felt his life being taken; his wife and his sisters abroad prayed the "Oh Lord show me mercy" prayer and he jumped up shouting "I will not die". That morning, during "God of Perfection" week, the family heard the word of knowledge "tuberculosis of the liver ... you will receive congratulations before 6 p.m. Nigerian time". Two doctors at a second hospital tested him and around 5pm the results came back normal; the first woman he told said "Congratulations".

1. We are in a revival of the strange acts of God. What God cannot do does not exist, and a delay of five minutes is not a denial.
2. You do not need to look for a stone to bring Goliath down. As a lively stone built by God, you are the stone; whatever represents Goliath in your life, family or career falls when you pray.
3. Goliath repeated the same challenge for forty days. The enemy's strategy is to waste your time and run the same cycles again and again; there is a destiny to fulfil, so enough is enough.
4. The devil brings the mountain, the sickness and the challenge so that you will shut up and cry. Silence is acceptance. Like David, speak the victory before you see it: life and death are in the tongue.
5. Sickness, addiction and shame are not your identity because your heavenly Father did not plant them.
6. Goliath's "defy" was a curse released into the atmosphere. Some troubles start because something was released over a home, office or business, and prayer can break and replace that atmosphere.
7. Thanksgiving secures wholeness: the leper who came back was made whole, and a shared testimony builds others' faith and secures future victories.
