THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL - PART 2

This was the Thursday evening Word & Fire midweek service, the second part of the series "The Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail". It opened with worship ("Here I Am to Worship", "What a Mighty God", "I Sing Praises", "Holy Forever", "Worthy of My Worship"), then a prayer leader took the house into tongues (1 Corinthians 14:2), thanksgiving for unseen battles, and prayer that every resistance would disappear at God's presence and that the word would come "as fire" and "as a hammer" (Jeremiah 23:29). The congregation also prayed for the preacher to be anointed afresh.

A long fire session followed. The house swept hindrances out of business, health, career and family "with a broom of fire" (Paul was hindered by Satan in 1 Thessalonians 2:18, "my case is different"), broke ancestral agreements with hell and "sour grapes" patterns, uprooted every landmark of wickedness the Father has not planted, and declared that old Goliaths brought down at the morning altar must not rise again. The people stretched their hands into October, November and December for speed, ease and access, and sent angels to open gates of jobs, interviews, marriage, approvals and immigration settlement, as the iron gate opened for Peter. The session closed with a rapid set of decrees: the sound of obituary will not be heard, delay breaks, the veil is torn, landmark of negativity is reversed, "the gates of hell will not prevail".

Before the reading he explained what a gate meant in Bible times: the marketplace where exchanges happen, the seat of the elders where decisions and verdicts are made, the post of the watchmen who monitor your movements, and the point of access that decides who enters. A gate of hell is a spiritual entity built to keep you out of what God has designed for you and to bring death. The church then read Matthew 16:13-23 together, and he used three volunteers (one as the gate of hell, one as the kingdom of God, one as Peter in the middle) to show that the Bible never says the gates of hell will not fight, only that they will not prevail, because Peter was handed the keys.

The first teaching point was the mind. In one chapter Peter moved from receiving revelation from the Father to hearing "Get thee behind me, Satan", because he "savourest not" the things of God. He read the Greek behind "savourest" as phroneis, to set your mind on a thing constantly: "You are not a believer because you believed. You are a believer because you are believing." The devil's first attack when a season comes is the mind, through worry, anxiety, fear of tomorrow and wavering, and every entertained thought builds a stronghold of negativity. The congregation laid hands on their heads and declared "I have a sound mind."

The second point was Matthew 16:19 in the Amplified Bible and the NASB: "whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven". He said the original has no simple future tense, so the binding is already done through the cross, and the believer only agrees with and appropriates it. "We don't pray for victory. We pray from victory." Balaam could not reverse a blessing, and Joseph's brothers could not stop his dream. He stopped there, saying the rest of the passage would continue next week, and sent people home with one phrase: "Already bound, already loosed." The service closed with offerings, announcements, a Psalm 91 declaration and an invitation to the altar the next morning.

Move to the new church site

• First midweek service at the new site: 22 October. The church returns to the current venue for that Sunday's service.
• From 29 October the church moves to the new site and will not come back.

• Gems and Jewels (singles church, 39 and below): friendship community week, theme "Building Kingdom Networks", 19th to 25th (month not stated, likely October), with football and volleyball competitions.

Declarations over the house

• No resistance, no doubt, no wandering hearts in the service.
• Every battle at the gate of the new season and of evidence is a liar; no more contention.
• Ancestral and satanic agreements with the gates of hell scattered by fire; satanic ordinance of delay torn.
• The sound of obituary will not be heard; attacks are ending; financial lock is broken; the veil is torn; burdens fall off; delay breaks; arrows broken and turned back; exchange of glory reversed; chains, shackles and bondage broken; spiritual myopia reversed; restoration; landmark of negativity reversed.
• Any exchange at any gate around your life broken; any verdict, ordinance or proclamation made against you broken; every monitoring eye watching your business, contract or celebration in order to abort it broken.
• "This family suffers from premature death. Already bound." During the offering: "Diabetes already bound, financial increase already loosed."

1. A gate is not metal in a wall. In Scripture it is a marketplace of exchanges, the place where elders decide, the post of watchmen and the point of access. A gate of hell is a spiritual entity designed to keep you out of what God has prepared and to bring death.
2. The Bible never says the gates of hell will not fight, confront or unsettle you. It says they will not prevail. Every believer stands in the middle like Peter, pulled at in health, career and business, but holding the keys of the kingdom.
3. The keys are prayer fire, the word, fellowship with the church, being on the altar and meditation. They work only for a mind that stays set on what it believes.
4. Revelation yesterday does not carry you today. Peter went from "flesh and blood hath not revealed it" to "Get thee behind me, Satan" in one chapter because his mind shifted. "You are not a believer because you believed. You are a believer because you are believing."
5. The devil's favourite attack when your season arrives is your mind: worry, anxiety, fear of tomorrow and wavering. Each entertained thought becomes a stronghold of negativity, so you can sit in a prayer meeting with your mind under siege.
6. Matthew 16:19 reads "shall have been bound in heaven". God is not waiting for you to bind before He binds; the cross already spoiled principalities. You bind what is already bound and loose what is already loosed, and no gossip, slander or village gathering can bind what God has loosed.
7. So we do not pray for victory, we pray from victory; we fight because we have won. Do not pray from fear of a half dead snake. Like Balaam's blessing and Joseph's dream, what God has released cannot be reversed: it is already too late for you to be poor, stranded or put to shame.

Today / this season

• Pray in tongues intentionally, not casually, and pray from the heart.
• Take the battle from the defensive to the offensive: sweep hindrances out of business, health, career and family, and keep fallen Goliaths from rising again.
• Send angels on assignment to open gates: interviews, jobs, approvals, marriage, immigration.
• Keep your mind fixed: "set your mind there", "don't let your mind shift"; do not lose the fire, faith, hope or passion of yesterday.
• Lay hands on your head and declare "I have a sound mind"; refuse the voice that asks "what if something goes wrong".
• Walk away from the mentality of works and pray from victory, appropriating what is already loosed: job, favour, access, a new season, your marriage.
• Go home with "already bound, already loosed", tell everyone you meet, and let it change the posture of your prayer when you wake up at night.
• Earlier he asked people to walk up to seven neighbours and declare "the gates of hell will not prevail"; at the close, to walk up to 21 people and tell them "already bound".
• Share with your neighbour what blessed you tonight.
• Give offerings, tithe and partnership as a wave offering, and be part of the church building project.
