WHEN GOD HELPS A MAN

This is a full Sunday at Streams of Joy Abuja, and the recording carries all four services under one theme: when God helps a man. Every service opens the same way, with the congregation lifting their eyes to the hills and declaring the week ahead day by day, Monday through Saturday, in the language of men God helped: Israel at the Red Sea, David against Goliath, Daniel in the den, Peter on the water, the man at the pool of Bethesda. The cry the pastor puts in everyone's mouth is simple and repeated all morning: "By the help of the Lord I rise. By the help of the Lord I break out. By the help of the Lord I overtake."

The first service takes Judges 16 and Samson's last prayer. Pastor Jerry's argument is that nobody on this side of eternity survives outside the help of God, that there is no such thing as a self made man, and that the help of God does not need your help. He works through Samson: a destiny put up for sale by Delilah, eyes gouged out so that a judge became a comedian, a Delilah connected to lords of the Philistines the man never saw, and then the last minute prayer of a man who had blown it, answered anyway. He closes on the brethren who only showed up to bury Samson, and prays that nobody's help arrives when they no longer need it. "Because your help will not come late. It will come this week."

The second service moves to Luke 13 and the fig tree. Here the teaching is the dynamics of God's help: men are fixated on fruit while God is fixated on root, the vine dresser pleads for one more year to dig and dung, and pruning that feels like punishment is really preparation. "May you not be that child of God that will be pampered into fruitlessness, but may you be that child of God that will be rebuked into rootedness." The third service goes back to Genesis 2, to the first time God ever gave a man help: help fills a vacuum, help comes when a man is put to sleep, help provokes warfare, and help must never be adored above the helper. The last service reads Luke 5 and Peter's boat, and lands on obedience and priorities: the first help God gives is the capacity to obey him, and satanic help is recognised by who gets the glory at the end.

Between the sermons the congregation heard a long run of testimonies, several of them from people who flew in to give them: a widow of 46 with a UK visa and 80 percent of her school fees supplied, a Liberian couple with ten years of withheld benefits and a five year affliction ended, a UK man whose PSA went from 34 to 0.3 and whose 20 year itching stopped in February 2023, a Canadian lawyer whose client's permanent residence was approved on the very Wednesday the pastor said "before 6 p.m. Nigeria time", a security guard at the church gate who is now in the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, a mother whose son spent three years of month ends in hospital and spent his fourth birthday season in school winning best mathematician, and a 64 year old aunt who walked down the aisle in January.

Four communions were served across the day, one for each service: multi dimensional help, family help, speed and the breaking of delay, and a flushing out of whatever is not of God. The whole day is pointed at Monday's NSPPD, "God of wonders, God of settlement and God of suddenly", and at the church's move to its new site in Jabi.

One earlier announcement in the day gave 1 October for this, and the later services corrected it to 1 November.

• First time visitors were asked to fill the ushers' forms and hand them to an usher before leaving, so the church can reach them and keep them in prayer.

Communion

Four servings, one per service, each with a different word over it:

1. First service: communion of multi dimensional help, touching health, career, business and your walk with God.
2. Second service: communion of family help, for brothers, sisters and children wherever they are.
3. Third service: communion of speed. "The power of delay has been broken. The power of running around in circles has been broken."
4. Fourth service: communion of cleansing, whatever is not of God flushed out of body, soul and spirit, from the crown of the head to the sole of the feet.

Offering

Given in every service as a wave offering, with the instruction to be intentional and thank God specifically for the help he has already brought. Over the second service's offering he declared a week of financial increase.

Testimonies played or recapped

Second service:

• A 46 year old widow with two children. Her younger sister, pregnant in 2004, bled heavily and was told the baby's heartbeat was faint and she might lose it. They prayed "Oh Lord show me mercy" at the bedside and the baby was carried to term, a girl. Her own second testimony: after 21 years in the same job she went back to school for a master's, holding on to the words "this one will work", "suddenly your visa will be given to you", "God is putting pressure on systems and structures" and "before three days". Her UK visa dropped on a Tuesday afternoon, 80 percent of her school fees was provided by helpers, and she flies out this Tuesday to land in the UK for the first time.
• Mr and Mrs Anthony and Antoinette Kon from Liberia, from the Catholic Church, with three testimonies. Unpaid benefits of about US $29,000 held up from 2017 through several changes of management and a lawyer who could not move it. After words of knowledge on the altar ("instead of praying you are waiting for the evidence", "nothing will push you out of it", "system and structure will obey", "the wait is over", "on September 29 the Lord will destroy the confidence of those that want you to fail", "they will change their mind", "may the Lord turn off their volume permanently"), the HR manager was suspended and management agreed to pay 50 percent, US $14,500. They vowed 30 percent of whatever was paid to the church building project. Second, US $9,000 sent to a friend in the US in 2021 for a vehicle, unresolved for three years, released at the end of the 21 day fast in January 2024. Third, his own deliverance: from 2018 he was bloated, blackened and passing blood, unable to use the bathroom normally for years, until a word came on the altar in 2023, "there is blood in your toilet whenever you use the toilet." Three years healed since that day.
• A man who flew in from the UK (name captioned as "America"). Diagnosed in 2024 with aggressive prostate cancer and enlargement, PSA 34, down to 3.2 by June last year and now 0.3, with no prostate cancer and no enlargement, and he says he never once felt sick. He held on to words spoken on 12 February 2025, 11 March 2025 and 17 March 2025. Before that, cervical stenosis in 2022 that left him crawling and unable to button a shirt: surgery on 4 August 2022, numbness almost gone in 5 weeks, back at work in 6, against a 12 to 18 month prognosis, after a word the day before about numbness spreading through the body. Fluid in his spine dried up three days after the 14 October 2022 word "any fluid in the spine dry up". And itching over his whole body for more than 20 years, never disclosed to anyone, which stopped on 20 February 2023 during a Monday "shake it off" after he put it on the altar. The last itch he ever felt was 28 February 2023.

Third service:

• A mother, formerly of Ghana. Her son climbed a bunk bed and a ceiling fan caught his head. The mark was deep but it was not his eyes or his neck, and she credits the earlier word that she would not lose any of her children. Her daughter, after writing "Lord please give me a scholarship" on her own prayer list during the midyear fast, was the only pupil selected in the whole primary section. The fast ended on the 14th, the congratulatory message came on the 15th, the school confirmed on the 16th, and the tuition is free.
• A lawyer and mother. Her third daughter, an architect turned author who had been self publishing and self distributing, was approached by a leading publisher who now pays for publishing and distribution and still pays her royalty. Her husband, a professor of law and senior advocate of Nigeria, did not believe in Jesus Christ for over 30 years. She prayed NSPPD beside him quietly until he began listening, then commenting, then answering amen, and two weeks ago he wrote on the family platform that no one moves beyond Christ if they do not accept him, quoting John 14:6, and followed it with "In Christ Alone". Her son in law David was hired into a role at what she described as the top ranked global management consulting firm, at managerial level, with accommodation on Banana Island, after an interview that first went badly and was rescheduled. She held the word "you shall be the preferred" and "you may not see the rain, you may not see the wind, but your valley shall be filled with water".
• A woman who worked three years as a security guard at the church gate for the contracted security company. She kept asking to be transferred and was refused. A church member walked up to her, asked whether she would like a government job, and told her she would not be working as a cleaner but in an office. She is now one year into the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service.
• Gladys, a Canadian lawyer working in business law, immigration, AI and technology, who flew in from Canada to keep a vow. A client diagnosed with liver cancer in summer 2024 had surgery after the word "cancer of the liver reverse", then a second tumour and a breast cyst, and after the word "what they saw before they will not see again" she was declared cancer free. A client ordered to leave Canada after 12 years had it reversed, went back to school and graduated with honours, and the lawyers who had failed on the file asked the parents how it happened. And a third client's permanent residence was approved, dated 9 September 2026, the same Wednesday the pastor declared on the altar "every immigration challenge reverse, before 6 p.m. Nigeria time".
• A fragrance designer working with hotels and luxury homes. The week she recorded the "this is my level" video last August, an eight figure credit alert came in and opened the hospitality sector to her. She now works across West and Central Africa, with a partnership taking the brand to Kenya and an approach from Switzerland. A bank called and cleared her loan facility at an 80 percent discount after the word "before 6 p.m. Nigeria time". And an institution she had applied to since university, with no response ever, called her through a godmother and selected her as a senior expert on an EU project, where what she earns in a month exceeds a year of her old salary.

Fourth service (testifiers named from the platform included Ruth Onazi, Chim, Edith Frank, and a Reverend Canon and his wife):

• A young woman who left the third service last Sunday and was hit by a car that came from nowhere on the way home to Gwarinpa. She shouted "Arroi", and there was no death and no injury.
• A mother whose son, now four, had been in and out of hospital every month since birth. One admission earlier this year cleared their bank account, about six million naira. The word came that the sickness would never happen again before his next birthday. On 3 June, her own birthday, which she had spent every year on a hospital bed with him, he was in school winning best mathematician. Her car engine knocked and then her husband's when she planned to come and testify, and a new car came on 18 August, before the pastor's birthday.
• A woman with two testimonies. In her workplace promotion exam, 107 of 574 candidates passed and she was one of them, after the word "your name is already on that list, what they have not given to others they will do for you". Second, her delivery: a week of contractions, three failed inductions, and a refusal to go for a caesarean because at 16 a surgical team had left scissors in her stomach. At midnight the word came, "no pregnant woman will die in childbirth, you will not die bringing out a life". At 3 a.m. she was checked and had gone from 0 to 7 cm, and at about 4:30 a.m. her daughter was born naturally, still inside the unbroken sac.
• A woman testifying for her aunt, who had everything but marriage. After years of prayer on the altar the aunt was traditionally married last December and walked down the aisle in January this year, at 64.
• An Anglican priest of 34 years and his wife, who flew in from the UK. Their flights were booked two months ahead on an instruction, and every UK flight sold out by the Tuesday they travelled. He joined the altar in November 2020, and found he could never interpret the tongues on NSPPD because the Holy Spirit told him spiritual warfare was being conducted. Family land in a West African country, which he described as an Ahab and Jezebel situation, was turned around in December 2020 when the case reached the highest authority. He was prayed for by phone on 14 October 2021 and recovered. He walked away unhurt from a car accident on 4 June 2021 after the word "O earth, O earth". A Caucasian member of his congregation who first called the prayer too noisy received three or four job offers, and a brother with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in America was healed.

Words of knowledge and healing declarations

• Divine help to move you from where you are to where you ought to be in less than 14 days.
• Congratulation in seven days. "They used to look down on you, in seven days they will look up."
• A helper who will not sleep: "that night the king could not sleep", and your name flashing suddenly in the mind of someone who should remember you.
• A last minute turnaround before Wednesday: a last minute email, proposal, open door, meeting or signature. "The oga himself will call you."
• "Your help will not come late. It will come this week."
• Sickness and afflictions "from the pit of hell" reversed right now, with the promise that those responsible will see you in their dream tonight.
• Exemption from sudden and premature death, declared over everyone under the sound of his voice in the third service, with a hand laid on the head.
• "Your children will not bring you shame." Anything saying your children will be a reproach broken.
• "Oh Lord, reply them", prayed three times over anyone who has measured your name for evil, shame or destruction.
• Nothing buried while you are alive: not your favour, not your speed. A journey of favour will not become a journey of strength, a journey of access will not become a journey of closed doors.
• Demonic silence at any transition gate, over you or your children, reversed.
• Whatever is missing in your life supplied, prayed over 2,000 people in the third service.
• A 24 hour turnaround, declared over the close of the last service.
• A week of financial increase, declared over the second service offering.

1. Nobody on this side of eternity exists, survives or thrives without help. There is no such thing as a self made man, and the moment a man arrogates to himself the power to help himself, God steps out.
2. You are always in one of two seasons: one where God is helping you, or one where God is helping you help another. In both, God is still your help.
3. The help of God does not need your help. When God decides to help a man he summons the elements to obedience, causes rain so a busy man sits still and remembers you, even creates a crisis that makes you relevant.
4. Every help God gives comes from a place of revelation, so some of us cannot access help that lies beyond what we know God is able to do. Part of what a service like this does is stretch the mind so the help can be received.
5. Your destiny is not for sale. Delilah priced Samson to the lords of the Philistines, but some people need no Delilah, they offer themselves. What they offer may look like a miracle, but it is nothing compared to the help God is bringing, and it will cost you your convictions, your faith, your passion and your consecration.
6. Lack of vision is lack of help. The Philistines took Samson's eyes first, and a man who cannot see becomes a comedian in destiny. Shut your eyes to distraction, look at the immutability of God's word, and conceive a specific vision of the help that is coming. A daydream is a daydream because no prayer supports it.
7. What blocks your help is often in your own house, not in your village. The Delilah you can see is connected to lords of the Philistines you cannot see, to generational causes, to unbelief. And a man can keep loving what will finish him.
8. Before God helps you with an act, he often purges your house, the way Jesus took the whip into the temple, so that what is inside does not destroy what he is about to give.
9. God is the God of the last minute. Samson prayed "only this once" as a man who had blown it, and God answered anyway. One minute is too much for the God who sits on the circle of the earth.
10. God helps because helping is his nature, not because you asked well. He is the ever present help in trouble, like a doctor who was employed for you and does not need to be begged to attend to you. It is an error for a child of God to be in trouble and think there is no help.
11. Help that comes late is not help. Samson's brethren only came to bury him. Pray that your help does not arrive when you no longer need it, and that God raises someone who will pull you out rather than someone who only says they understand.
12. Men are fixated on fruit, God is fixated on root. God does not want you carrying fruit you have no depth to sustain. It is easier to pray against your village people than to face a root that is actually your own speech, your disposition or your stubbornness.
13. Not Kronos but Kairos. God allows chronological time because it builds capacity and knowledge, but the opportune time of God can arrive while you are still sitting there listening.
14. The devil aims at the season of your help. The fig was condemned in the very year it should have borne fruit, so expect an arrow of error, a mistake, a sudden loss of interest, right at the point of blossoming. If he cannot get you, he will go for your prayer life, your faith, your hope and your zeal.
15. A vine dresser cultivates, and cultivate comes from culture. Pruning is not punishment: lost relationships and dead habits were cuts made for fruit. What others cut out of hatred, God was using to prune you.
16. May God give you your own. A fig planted among competing trees has lean resources, so the vine dresser brings dung that it will not share. When God curates your journey, you do not queue behind others and you cannot tell your story using someone else's.
17. God's help fills a vacuum. Adam was not lacking in ability, he was lacking a counterpart, so help is God looking into your life for what is missing and filling it there.
18. Some levels of help do not come until you sleep. Adam had to be unconscious of his environment, no longer scanning and judging where the help would come from.
19. Help is a declaration of warfare. The serpent was in the garden before Eve, but only showed up once help arrived, because there are levels of help your family pattern never imagined you would reach.
20. Never put the help before the helper. Adam had walked with God and heard the instruction directly, but he took the fruit because he valued the help over the one who gave it. Before the car, you took an Uber to church and still worshipped.
21. The help is already in you. God opened Adam and took the help out of the man. Do not beg for what you can call forth, because the word is near you, in your mouth.
22. Every help God gives has the potential to bring another help. Adam had seed, Eve was the multiplier. God's help is a seed for a harvest of other helps, while satanic help is an open door to destruction you did not plan. You tell them apart by who gets the glory at the end.
23. The first help God gives is usually the capacity to obey him. Some help is routed through an obedience you have not fulfilled, and your disobedience short circuits what has already been released.
24. One of the greatest helps God gives is a corrected priority. Peter wanted fish, heaven wanted his ship. God does not want a relationship that is need driven or a conversation that is problem centred.
25. Never define your life by the battles you face, because one help from God can erase all of them.
26. Help does not come at the instance of labour, it comes at "nevertheless at thy word". Peter was the expert, he had toiled all night, and he moved on a word instead of an emotion. Any help without the word at the centre will not last.
27. Be mindful of your connections. Peter's partners did not receive the instruction, but they were called when the nets broke. And help often runs into you because of who you are connected to, so behave yourself with the stranger who greets you.
28. After the help comes another instruction for a bigger assignment. The help God is giving is never an end in itself.

Today / this season

• Declare the week day by day with him, Monday through Saturday, in the "I am the man helped by God" confessions.
• Say it out loud and to your neighbours: "My help has come", "My destiny is not for sale", "I am not for sale", "I will not sell my convictions", "Have you seen your help?", "The help is in you", "At thy word".
• Pray "My father, my father, fix my root", "My father, punch me for what is about to come", and "My father, set my priorities right".
• Shout "Get out" over anything in your house or in yourself that is blocking your help.
• Take the communion in your service, each with the word he placed on it: multi dimensional help, family help, speed, and cleansing.
• Bring your offering, tithe and partnership as a wave offering, and be intentional in thanking God specifically for the help he has already brought.
• Walk up to seven people and tell them "The Lord has helped you", and at the close walk up to 14 people (21 in the last service) and shout in their ear "My help has come".
• Teach your children to write what they want on their own prayer list, as the mother whose daughter wrote down "scholarship" did.
• Do not devalue yourself, sell your faith or compromise your convictions for help that looks like a shortcut.
• Get specific in prayer about the help you are asking for, rather than "God, just help me".
• Do not put the help before the helper when the answer arrives.

Tomorrow / upcoming

• Do not miss tomorrow, Monday, on the altar: God of wonders, God of settlement, God of suddenly.
• Before Monday's prayers begin, record a video of yourself saying "This is my last day on this level", and keep it to yourself until your testimony comes.
