WHEN GOD ANSWERS

This was Streams of Joy Abuja's four-service Sunday under the theme "When God answers", held the day after Pastor Jerry Eze's 44th birthday (22 August) and functioning as the church's birthday appreciation service. He repeatedly called 22 August "not a normal date in the calendar of NSPPDians," and noted the dedicated birthday prayer had already been held on the Friday. A cake was cut in each service - the first "to thank Arroi for the preservation of our papa," the rest with regional pastors, mama and visiting pastors from around the world - and the congregation was urged to eat a piece before leaving.

The teaching in the first service came out of the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) and was blunt: "It is not every prayer that God answers." Prayer built on human audacity but empty of faith, or prayer that never reckons with the contention of darkness, may be eloquent and still go unanswered. His central turn: "The prayer you prayed with the word does not wait for a season to bring its answer - the prayer you prayed with the word creates the season for your answer." He then walked the model line by line: there is a Father; there is a name, and it is not yours ("Hallowed be thy name" - those who swapped God's name for their own, like Herod, did not end well); "thy kingdom come" is not a civilian phrase but a declaration of war, because the invasion of one kingdom by another always means battle; and "thy will be done" is the manual - you may be kingdom-equipped and still not know how the appliance works until you know his will. His image for a believer who prays and then reverts: a pig given a full bath that walks straight back to the mud, because the problem was never the bath but the pig's mentality.

The later services turned to Luke 19:29-38 - Jesus sending two disciples for the tied colt - read against the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9, which promised the king riding on a colt but never mentioned that the colt would be tied. From that he drew the day's most personal charge: complication is not contradiction, it is evidence that the fingerprint of God is on the prophecy, "the devil doesn't fight anything that doesn't threaten it." Then, surprisingly, he prayed the reverse of the whole 40-day cry: "Lord, until my time comes, please tie me" - because a colt untied prematurely gets into what it cannot get out of, and its friends walk past calling it to parties it has no business attending. He spoke about sent men as against owners: owners are invested in the status quo and claim you by what is on your neck; sent men are not intimidated by your weakness and assess you by what God told them about you ("the Lord hath need of him"). He named Jonathan stripping himself for David, Simon of Cyrene carrying the cross, and the man who donated his grave.

The service carried an unusually heavy testimony load - fruit of the womb after IVF failures, a 25-week baby discharged whole, cancers that vanished before surgery, immigration documents, houses, cars, a ₦100m deal and thirty years of alcohol addiction broken. Pastor Jerry said his staff had told him on Friday night, "Pastor, I have never seen too many cancer testimonies at the same time," and he deflected the credit hard: "It's not the cake. It's God. It is not even Pastor Jerry's birthday, but it is God."

In the fourth service Pastor Eno Jerry (mama) gave an unplanned charge titled "What I have learned being Pastor Jerry's wife" - that God gave her a man who saw her tomorrow, that people do change (2 Cor 3:18), never to settle, and the five instructions God gave her on day 26 of a 40-day dry fast in August 2019: allow him, encourage him, support him, understand him, grow with him - with the promise attached, "and I will bless you." Pastor Jerry closed by insisting he is "not a perfect man, just a man on a journey with God," announced the church's official move to the new site on the first Sunday in October, and sent everyone into Monday's altar: "It is finally your answer."

Theme and timing

• Today's theme: "When God answers." Held across all four Sunday services; also billed as a birthday/appreciation and "transition" service for Pastor Jerry's 44th birthday (22 August).
• The birthday prayer service was held on Friday; he called it the reason "this is the best birthday I've ever had so far," and said Monday would seal it.

Also billed as: stop the hijackers, eliminate the hijackers, a new season beckons, all doors are open, angelic invasion/visitation, multiple rain at the same time, divine alarm, "my father's house has been remembered." He said repeatedly it must not be missed.
• Fasting is back: Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. "Eat today. Eat very well."
• Discipleship and membership class - Monday, 6:00 p.m., church premises (especially for those newly saved).
• Maturity class - Tuesday, 6:00 p.m., church premises. Announced topics: conviction, burden vs worry, "a knowing", and the difference between faith, courage and audacity.
• Midweek Word & Fire - Thursday, 6:00 p.m. New series: "Built to Last."
• Next Sunday (30 August 2026) - theme "Supernatural Shift - A New Season Is Here," in all four services.
• Thanksgiving and dedication of babies, weddings, businesses, properties and assets - Sunday 30 August 2026, fourth service.
• New church site: the move was expected for the birthday but one item awaited from Lagos did not arrive in time. Official dates announced: last Sunday in September is the last service at the current (tent) venue; first service at the new site is the first Sunday in October.

• By March 2027 NSPPD turns seven years old (noted in the year-in-review video).

Salvation

• Salvation prayer led in the first service: "Lord Jesus, come into my life. Come and be my Lord and personal Saviour. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me, sanctify me, and make me pure and whole again, in Jesus' name."

Offering

• Offerings, tithes and partnership taken in every service, raised as a wave offering; prayer each time from Malachi 3 (devourer rebuked, windows of heaven opened), plus a specific word for tithers: "from now onwards, God is going to make it easier than you thought."

Birthday programme

• Four cakes cut, one per service. The first was cut "to thank Arroi for the preservation of our papa, for choosing our papa, for the gift of papa to nations." The congregation spells A-R-R-O-I (observing the hyphen) at each cutting, then "Papa, we love you." Everyone was urged to eat cake before leaving.
• Cake cutters included mama (Pastor Eno Jerry) and the regional pastors - Canada, USA, UK and Nigeria (names caption-mangled: "Pastor Genevieve Chima" (Canada), "Pastor Godstein Penda" (USA), "Pastor Chinwe" (UK), "Pastor Uguru", "Pastor K", "Pastor Clyde" (Nigeria)); the fourth cake was cut with Pastor Ike Chukwu and Apostle Opia (When Women Pray).
• Games: a spin-the-wheel giveaway run by Papa himself (segments included "What God cannot do", "Try again", "Arroi", "We pray", "Happy birthday papa" - seat-pocket cards marked Happy birthday papa won prizes); a "mimic papa" contest with one volunteer per row; and a rapid-fire question session (below).
• Birthday greetings played from Streams of Joy campuses worldwide (Birmingham, East London, London, Manchester, Port Harcourt and others), plus a children's tribute and a stage sketch.

Rapid-fire quiz answers (Pastor Jerry)

Year in review (August 2025 - August 2026)

Testimonies given in church

• A woman (name caption-mangled) - waited over five years for the fruit of the womb; confirmed pregnant three days after last year's papa's-birthday service. Also moved from customer service into marketing: a ₦400m target became ₦1bn achieved, with an award; already at ₦600m this year.
• Mrs Peace Chinom - a 2023 stillbirth in the ninth month, then repeated miscarriages. Her sister in the UAE sent her the link for last August's birthday service; confirmed pregnant 5 October. Diagnosed with gestational diabetes, she stayed on the altar; on 9 May she insisted the baby come out, and the baby was delivered 10 May at 35 weeks. The doctor said her womb would have ruptured. The baby was present in church.
• Afam, a lawyer and pastor - carried the burden of childlessness for 10 years; a first breakthrough came about five years ago through NSPPD. Last year he flew back inconveniently from court in Lagos rather than miss the birthday cake, ate his portion and had a friend preserve some. He brought his family back from London on 28 November; his wife was confirmed pregnant on 26 December, and God has now given him a son - "now I have a son, now I have a girl, now I can stand with two legs."
• A mother - moved her daughter to school in the UK in January, 20 weeks before GCSEs; the school said she realistically could not cope, but she was entered for seven new subjects, switching from arts to sciences, and the results came through on the Thursday with fives and fours (the maximum available to her being five). Second testimony: her mother, who hated her from birth (she was called an ogbanje child), refused to breastfeed her and told her in-laws she was a prostitute, sent a message on the Tuesday saying "I can see the hand of God on your life and I want you to pray for me" - "40 years in one day."
• A staunch Catholic woman - twice saw Pastor Jerry in a dream giving a thumbs-up and saying "come with me"; she attended the NSPPD US 2023 conference in Houston. At the airport she loaded two cash cards for a $1,550 business-class ticket, and after paying discovered only the $550 card had been used and $1,000 was still on the other card. Her father was later diagnosed with grade 4 prostate cancer and needed urgent surgery; she sold her car and everything she had, made 75% payment, and the night before surgery had nothing left - within 20 minutes a friend, disturbed in dreams, flew into Abuja and handed her $4,000 at 2 a.m., saying "Arroi directed me to give you this." She needed $2,000. After the surgery the doctor said "I don't know what happened. We couldn't see cancer" - no chemo, no radiotherapy, discharged in two days. Afterwards her car was replaced and she was given a two-bedroom apartment.
• Dr Confidence Amichi, a family physician who flew in from Canada to fulfil a vow made in the NICU - joined the altar May 2024, prayed for marital settlement and married January 2025; pregnant by April 2025; received Canadian permanent residence, and her mother's Canadian visa came in seven days. At 20 weeks her cervix was found short, then 0.9 cm, then 2 cm dilated at 23 weeks; a cerclage was refused because of rupture risk and she was placed on bed rest. Her daughter was born at 25 weeks and 3 days, cried and breathed without intubation, and was discharged home at 36 weeks with no oxygen, no feeding tube and none of the usual complications of prematurity (brain bleeds, retinopathy, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, NEC, developmental delay). She prayed alongside another NSPPDian, "sister Ruby", whose baby came at 27 weeks.
• A woman based in Ghana - her father had multiple strokes between 79 and 82 and nearly died in August 2024; two years on, no hospital visits. Her sister keyed into the "20 years in one day" prayer and, within that same week, the Lagos house she and her husband were renting sold after months on the market; the buyer's proceeds meant they were given ₦20m and now own the house they live in. Her husband collapsed vomiting blood, was referred to Ghana's biggest hospital, cancer was suspected and they had no money for tests - they carried the file to the altar daily and he was healed (clean tests two months ago). She herself lost her banking job in 2018 and prayed on the altar for six years and four months; after a Sunday word that "by Wednesday, before 6 p.m. Nigeria time" she'd receive a call, the call came at 5:57 p.m. She returned to a multinational bank as head of four units, was confirmed, given a brand-new 2026 SUV, and by May of this year moved into an international role.
• "LZ", a realtor from Lagos - registered her business 18 February 2025 and went 1 year 8 months with no sale, hit repeatedly by "delay and failure at the edge of breakthrough." At the NSPPD America conference Papa said "before August 14th"; on 14 August at 11:37 a.m. the message came, and she closed her first deal - ₦100 million.
• Gail - 8-9 years of smoking, escalating from light strains to Black Mamba and Colorado; it shut her food business for three years and destroyed her prayer life, and she smoked before church, before jogging, even during the January fast. On a Sunday (28th, just before the 14-day fast), as Pastor Jerry stepped down from prayer and began to preach, the atmosphere in her room changed, she vomited, wept, heard a voice say "if you trust me enough, dump it - let's do this work together," and flushed it. Her prayer life is back, her business is being renovated, she now attends discipleship class - and today is her birthday, "my best birthday."
• Chika, from Warri - married 2018; fibroid removed by surgery, then three failed IVF cycles. She joined the altar in 2022 and travelled to Abuja for papa's birthday 2024, praying only one request twenty times over: to test positive. She used a mantle given her by a worker and the communion from the altar. In October 2024 she saw two red lines for the first time in six years of marriage - and delivered twin boys.
• Martin (Ireland) - joined NSPPD in 2021 while recovering from COVID, having had to learn to walk again; he shares the link 15-30 minutes early each morning with a note explaining it, for people like him who don't click links. He and his family were nearly homeless when their landlord reclaimed the lease; they threw out their furniture and applied for a mortgage on a €355,000 house, but were €30,000 short after selling all his shares. After Papa declared "that email you are waiting for, you'll receive it by the time you get home," the email arrived reviving an application he'd been disqualified from; then, after a "before 6 p.m. Nigeria time" word, his daughter's godmother rang and gave them the €30,000. He has applied for the house to be named "NSPPD Vale." Second: excruciating abdominal pain while wrapping Christmas presents; scans and specialists suspected stomach and colon cancer; the procedure on 27 March 2025 came back stomach normal, colon normal, no polyps - "just like that they will tell you everything is normal."
• Frank (Italy), Martin's first cousin - 11 years without documents in Italy. In 2021 Papa declared that every protocol concerning immigration was broken and the testimony would come within 48 hours; within 48 hours his wife called: the document he'd applied for years earlier was approved, signed by three judges. A referral he almost ignored turned out to be a company, not a household job; he started as a storekeeper and is now assistant production manager, the only Black person in a company with branches in Russia, Dubai and Denmark.
• A car dealer / automobile engineer from Lagos - over 30 years addicted to alcohol (1992 to 2022), broken in March 2022 and "not 1%" since - four years free. He also made ₦4.5m on a single transaction in one day, and asked God to break addiction in his family through his testimony.
• A woman pivoting from 10+ years in insurance into real estate - during the July 2025 midyear fast, on 10 July, the day of the prayer for the works of hands, her real estate company published a car contest; during Pastor Jerry's prayer ("you are not there to try, you are there to dominate / to take over") a name dropped in her spirit. She contacted the man, the payment came through, and on 25 July 2025 she won the car. Since then, back-to-back transactions plus: an air conditioner, air fryer, washing machine, microwave, picture frame, two gift boxes, two fans, three smart TVs, a ₦900,000 shopping voucher, a laptop - and she has just qualified for an international trip. "Beyond all that, I have peace."

Pastor Jerry's own note on the weekend: his staff brought him the testimony list on Friday night and again on Saturday, and Charles told him, "Sir, I have never seen too many cancer testimonies at the same time."

Words of knowledge / healing declarations

Spoken through the opening prayer and between readings:

Pastoral rebuke: phones

He said he was "worried about how your telephone is beginning to affect your walk with God" - praying small and checking the phone small, claiming the Bible is in the phone and opening WhatsApp instead, sitting in church on Instagram, chatting while the word is going forth. "When you can no longer concentrate, you cannot give God any time at all." His ask: put the phone on airplane mode in God's presence - "nothing will spoil; anything that wants to spoil, let it spoil, because I am with God." He prayed against "the spirit of phone."

1. Not every prayer is answered. Prayers that rest on human audacity but lack faith, and prayers that never reckon with the contention of darkness, may be eloquent and still return empty.
2. The word does not wait for a season - it creates one. "The prayer you prayed with the word does not wait for season to bring its answer; the prayer you prayed with the word creates the season for your answer." Answers are already released; they must become reality.
3. The greatest ridicule of prayer is to leave the place of prayer ignorant - not knowing what you changed, what you shifted, what happened. Like a pig given a full bath that walks back to the mud, the problem is not the washing, it is the mentality.
4. There is a Father, and there is a name - and the name is not yours. "Hallowed be thy name." God watches prayers where heaven can already hear whose name will be pushed if the answer comes. Favour will come; let your shoulders drop for his name.
5. His fatherhood makes your sonship - your sonship does not make his fatherhood. Beware a gospel so loaded on the son that the Father looks irrelevant. The reason demons obey is not who you are but whose you are.
6. "Thy kingdom come" is not a civilian term. The invasion of one kingdom by another is an invitation to war. Where God is taking you, someone is already sitting; the promised land was already occupied. Expect pushback, and refuse to "accept."
7. The will of God is the manual of the kingdom. You came factory-fitted with kingdom the day you were saved; the enemy's work is to keep you from the manual. "Reality can be very real and still not be the will of God."
8. Complication on a prophecy is a sign, not a contradiction. The prophecy of Zechariah 9:9 never mentioned the colt would be tied. "The devil doesn't fight anything that doesn't threaten it." Don't look at what you're seeing; look at what he said about you.
9. Ask God to tie you until your Jesus moment. Untied prematurely, you get involved in things you cannot get out of. Liberty in Christ is not liberty to sin. "Lord, I won't stop them - but put a leash on me."
10. The colt is a beast of burden - but under Jesus it becomes a ride into glory. This is why God frustrated plans of yours that were against his will.
11. Listen only to those God sent. "Part of your problem until now is that you listened to those God didn't send." You won't know his need in the kingdom if you haven't been with the King, so there are people you must stop explaining yourself to.
12. Owners vs sent men. Owners are invested in the status quo and judge you by what is on your neck; sent men are not intimidated by your weakness and assess you by what God told them about you. You don't judge a sent man by your good times - you learn his value in adversity.
13. Don't judge yourself by what's on your neck. "I know what is on your neck. It came 16 years ago… but I still have need of you."
14. The proof that you are loosed is what you have left behind - patterns, cycles, addictions.
15. When God answers, he doesn't just send a thing, he sends a man. All the promises are yes and amen in Christ; Israel got Moses, the lame man got Peter and John - "and he has not just answered you, he has made you the answer."
16. Give God the glory, not the man and not the cake. "It's not the cake. It's God. It is not even Pastor Jerry's birthday, but it is God" - though God does choose to honour a season of a man's life to give testimonies that sound like lies.
17. From Pastor Eno: people do change, because we are changed by what we behold; never settle; and pray for one sent man who sees your tomorrow - "if you're privileged to have three... one is a million."
