DOMINION IN ALL SPHERES - PART 3

This is the Wednesday evening Word & Fire service, part three of the Dominion in All Spheres series. After an extended worship set ("You are the King of Zion", "So Will I", "Number One", "Your Goodness"), Pastor Jerry opened the altar with the charge that gives the night its spine: "Dominion is not quiet." He led a long fire-prayer sequence - praying in the Holy Ghost to saturate the atmosphere, shaking serpents and scorpions off into the fire as Paul shook the viper, speaking "Peace be still" over storms in family, health and finances, pulling down Gideon-style every altar in the father's house, refusing the cave and climbing to the mountain top, refusing to bow, and pursuing to "recover all."

The reading was Matthew 25:14-30, the parable of the talents, read standing by the whole house. Pastor Jerry said he was concerned with only two men in the story: "the five talent" (the one who had dominion) and "the one talent" (the one who lost it). Before that he laid the doctrinal base: in the old covenant dominion was a mandate given to man and the devil stole it; in the new covenant the life of dominion was given to man, and it cannot be stolen - "even when you don't feel like dominating, you are in dominion." But on this side of eternity dominion comes by proclamation: "Don't tell me you are walking in dominion with closed lips."

He then made a deliberate detour from church-dominion to marketplace dominion, drawing four lessons from the parable. (1) Character equals action. The Lord addressed character first ("good" / "wicked") then action ("faithful" / "slothful") - faithful simply means consistent, slothful simply means lazy. "No dominion without fixing that character." He listed the fixes bluntly: talking too much, unforgiveness, gossip, jealousy, pity-party, needing validation, insecurities, blaming parents, carrying childhood trauma like a signboard - "Don't wait for those who broke you to fix you." (2) Issues or purpose. The five talent's report was short and about the assignment; the one talent's report was about his grievance with the master. "You will lose your mind if you make it personal." He applied it to workplaces, church departments and marriages - don't let quarrel, ego and being-right cloud why God brought you together. (3) Addition and subtraction. God told the master to collect the talent from the wicked servant and give it to the five talent - meaning there is something to glean even from a "one talent" person; God's wealth-carriers for you may not speak in tongues, so learn what they carry without becoming who they are ("so relevant in the church but so useless in the marketplace"). (4) Time. The one talent did use his time - he used it wrongly, burying the talent. "Time is the unit of destiny… wrong use of time equals emptiness; time is profit." He told of a leading African industrialist executing tasks live on the phone mid-conversation, and warned against two-hour calls where nobody is inspired: "If you are not inspiring, you are expired."

After the offering he announced tomorrow's Day 19 of the 40 Days of Power, Manifestation and Miracle family turnaround prayers, Sunday's theme, the August dedication service, and welcomed visiting Streams of Joy pastors from Umuahia and the UK. He closed by declaring Psalm 91 over the house and sending everyone to high-five 21 people with the night's word: "You are a five talent."

• A brother who testified recently went for a scholarship interview wearing his NSPPD wristband, expecting to meet an NSPPD person on the panel - the interviewer was not even a Christian. Pastor Jerry used it to make the point: "Those who God has sent to enlarge your career and your business, they don't speak in tongues."
• Personal illustration: years ago while preaching in Umuahia his belt gave way mid-message; he told the church "fashion gone wrong," removed and flung his shirt, and continued preaching - an example of refusing to take laughter personally.

1. Dominion is not quiet. It is enforced by proclamation. "On this side of eternity, our dominion comes by proclamations" - a closed mouth is a continuing storm, and the storm is waiting for you to declare "Peace, be still."
2. The covenant changed the terms. Under the old covenant dominion was a mandate given to man, and the devil stole it. Under the new covenant, the life of dominion was given to man - it cannot be stolen. "Even when you don't feel like dominating, you are in dominion."
3. Dominion is not one-sphere. It is not dominating in your career while your health is in trouble, or in church while you are empty in the marketplace. It comes not by muscle, degree or pedigree, but by whose you are and who you are in Christ.
4. Character equals action. God addressed character first - "good" versus "wicked" - then action, "faithful" (consistent) versus "slothful" (lazy). "No matter how much we speak in tongues, if you don't let the Lord work on your character, your action will push you out of dominion." This generation has no space for good people without good actions.
5. Fix what is broken in you. Talking too much, unforgiveness, gossip, jealousy of others' success, pity-party, seeking validation from "nonsense people," insecurity, blaming your parents. "Don't wait for those who broke you to fix you." And stop carrying yesterday's trauma like a signboard - like Mordecai told Esther, don't hand people your background to use against you.
6. Issues or purpose. The five talent reported the assignment; the one talent reported his grievance. "You will lose your mind if you make it personal; you will create more enemies if you make it personal." Not everyone laughing is laughing at you. What will you tell God - that because of somebody you missed your calling?
7. This applies at home. In marriage and family: don't be so concerned with quarrel, ego and who is right that you forget the purpose God brought you together for - to partner against the devil and raise a legacy in your children.
8. Addition and subtraction - glean from the "one talent." God ordered the talent collected from the wicked servant and added to the five talent. There is something to take even from people whose mode looks evil, and even from the devil's diligence and organisation. Sometimes what you take is what never to become. God positions a one talent around you on purpose.
9. Time is the unit of destiny. The one talent did use his time - wrongly. Wrong use of time equals emptiness; empty use of time leads to wastage of destiny. Time is profit: put something in your time, and at the end of the day's business ask, what value did I add to myself?
10. In the room of greatness, listen more than you talk. Great people rarely sit you in a classroom; they release nuggets - get a note and a paper. And remember: some people God sends are your sign, not your wonder - don't expect from them what only God gives.

• At the close: stand, lift both hands, declare Psalm 91:1-2, then high-five 21 people and shout in their ear, "You are a five talent."
