WHEN GOD HELPS A MAN

This is Sunday 24 May 2026 at Streams of Joy Abuja, covering all four services in one stream. The theme is "When God helps a man". Worship and opening prayer call for rain of divine help, sudden help, unbeatable help, and a less-than-24-hours turnaround. The day's cry, repeated until it becomes the brand of the house, is "Helped by God" and "My help has come." Pastor Jerry tells the congregation that no mortal was configured to survive without God's help, that the help of man is a broken reed, and that when God helps a man the process may not look good, but they will arrive at a place called sweetness (Melita, Malta).

Across the four services he preaches the same theme from four different texts. In the first service he opens Acts 28:1-6. Paul and the shipwrecked company escape to Melita. The islanders cannot speak Greek or Hebrew, so they are called barbarians, yet they kindle a fire because of the rain and the cold. Charge: "If a season changes, kindle a fire." The help of God is limitless, often tied to obedience, and men and women are gates to help, but the instruction that moulded you may be the real help, not the person who later implemented it. Any help that satisfies the body and destroys the spirit is not God-sent. God helps you so you can help others. One of the greatest helps is exposing a viper: Paul gathers sticks, a viper fastens on his hand (the Greek picture is "made one"), he shakes it off into the fire, feels no harm, and those who expected him to swell and die change their minds and say he is a god. "When God wants to help a man, he brings a public affliction that will lead to a public testimony."

In the second service he reads Acts 12:1-19. Herod kills James, seizes Peter in the days of unleavened bread, and chains him between soldiers. The church prays without ceasing. An angel comes, light shines, chains fall, the iron gate opens of its own accord, and Peter is delivered "from all the expectation of the people." The teaching: help has already been released, but prayer activates it. Prayerlessness is telling God you do not need Him. The only constant is God; men change; when Cherith dries there is still a widow at Zarephath. God cannot help you while you are chained to the wrong people, so "Lord, help me" often means "Lord, disconnect me." Light in the prison is revelation. Life is designed for following: follow the angel and doors open. One thing is to pray for help; another is to discern that help has already knocked.

The third service goes to Matthew 14:22-33. Jesus walks on the sea. Peter comes, begins to sink (present continuous, going down and down), cries "Lord, save me," and Jesus stretches forth His hand. The people in the ship do not worship because Jesus or Peter walked on water; they worship because Jesus intervened. After He caught Peter they still walked on the water back to the ship. "That Peter was sinking is not the end of the journey." The day's line: "I will still walk on the water." Guest minister Pastor Charles Osazua (captions: Oazua / Osua) is welcomed from the South.

The fourth service turns to 2 Kings 5, but the focus is not Naaman the star. It is the little Israelite maid, a product of warfare, who has revelation the man of war does not have. Help will not always come by stamina or pedigree; the ear will hear a word behind you saying, this is the way. Influence can fail; the prophetic (the word of God) settles it. "You are one word of God away from your help." Naaman wanted Abana and Pharpar; God sent him to dirty Jordan. The process may not look clean, but God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. Revelation keeps you: Jesus reads Matthew 16 as "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it," not merely against you. Pastor Charles greets the house, warns them not to be familiar with the oil, and testifies that at 46 his wife had triplets. The day closes with dedication of 68 babies and 60-plus businesses, then Psalm 91.

Dedications

• 68 babies dedicated in the fourth service (captions also say "60-something").
• 60-plus businesses dedicated the same afternoon.
• Because of numbers, not every family could crowd the platform; named families were called (captions scramble many surnames) and fathers carried the babies while mothers danced beside them.

Offering

• Offerings, tithe and partnership taken in every service, held up as a wave offering.
• Unstoppable generation church building project still ongoing; account details on the screen. They are almost finished (painting done); "in a heartbeat" they will move.

Prayer requests / what to bring to the altar

• Write down every situation, limitation and reality representing where you are now.
• Come with a second list of where you see yourself in the remaining days of May, or where you desire God to put you.
• Download pictures of heart desires and come with them.
• Do not come alone to the altar this week.
• Tomorrow (Monday) is singled out: if there is a day not to joke on the altar, it is tomorrow; mind-blowing prayers.

Salvation

• Altar call in the services. Prayer: "Lord Jesus, come into my life. Come and be my Lord and personal Savior. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me, sanctify me, and make me pure and holy again."

Communion

• Not served this Sunday. Next Sunday is the monthly communion service in all four services. Several testifiers used communion at hospital beds and over pregnancies.

Testimonies played / recapped

• Tamara Oki (captions) walked away from the faith in 2021. In 2022, during an Abuja internship, she followed her friend's mother to NSPPD and to this altar, made Streams of Joy her church, and on crossover night 2022 to 2023 prayed in tongues for more than two hours. First time back in Abuja since 2022; she came to thank Pastor Jerry for reviving her fire.
• Bond Uda (captions: Bond Udar). After a family loss in 2023 (younger sister died in childbirth), he had a severe reaction to a penicillin injection given in the arm instead of the buttock. Heart racing, body weak, a crowd on the expressway. He stood, declared altar proclamations ("I will not die. I am a living testimony. The God of Pastor Jerry cannot be mocked"), and the crisis stopped. The doctor called him a survivor. He flew back to the altar rather than send a video.
• Okuru Theresa (captions: okur Theresa). Fourfold: (1) grandchildren in the UK denied stay, appealed through 2024 and 2025; hearing set for 23 December; before they entered court the lawyer opened his laptop and immigration had already granted permanent stay. (2) Daughter-in-law's UK sponsor lost the Home Office licence; six months to find another sponsor or leave; a company gave her a CoS and job with no payment. (3) Right knee pain left her after the UK conference when Pastor Jerry said what you came with you will not go home with. (4) Daughter's friend whose husband was to be transferred to France: she wrote three requests, prayed "Oh Lord, show me mercy"; someone resigned, the transfer was cancelled, he was promoted and given a brand new official car.
• Rebecca (captions: Rebecca Suma), from Liberia. First 21-day January fast. Directed to start a kindergarten rather than a home for the elderly. A landlord refused, then could not rest and handed over the property with keys before payment terms. Her boss (14 years of unpaid work with underprivileged children) sent USD 5,000. School opened in September with 78 babies (9 months to 5 years). The same boss later funded a trip to Nigeria with documents, extended to Abuja so she could testify. Daughter Sarah, on scholarship from Norway to a US university, faced academic suspension over grades tied to a roommate's "emotional support" snake then cat; after altar prayer the board granted a second chance, her own bathroom, and a supervisor.
• Sharon Dennis, from Alabama, USA. Housing project: about 2,000 applicants for 7 houses, process from 2024. She joined 7 a.m. prayers from the night shift with an earpiece. She was the seventh person, received keys, and came to church in Abuja before flying back on the 1st.
• A workplace leader (about 400 staff, 13 years without a burial). Night video call: a staff member collapsed, first hospital had no light, second rejected her, body cold, mouth locked. They prayed the "O earth" prayer and shouted Arroi; within about an hour she was restored and stabilized. "We did not bury anybody."
• Scholarship candidate (name not recovered). Friend said you need connections. He applied without a required letter; was still shortlisted. In the CBT hall he first typed "What God cannot do does not exist", got an error, then logged in and felt answers picked for him; instant pass. Oral interview delayed from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; a woman overrode the letter objection. Award email, then a "sent in error" reversal; he declared "My name is on that list" and a corrected letter came in two days. Paid. People who used connections were still unpaid.
• Oluk James, flew Lagos to Abuja. CT scan at a Lekki hospital (captions: Evacare): multiple kidney stones, seven right, four left, too large to pass; surgery booked 27 April. On Monday 7 a.m. NSPPD he claimed "What they saw before they will not see it again." After the procedure doctors could not find any stones on either side.
• Mosu Chamaka (Amaka) from Anambra, with sister Amarachi who introduced her to the altar in 2020. Husband died 2023; two children. Mother's kneecap surgery paid in millions. Father had neglected six daughters; village house given to a step-sibling. She stayed in a job she hated because a relative promised a bungalow. A client she met while marketing (a "sign" to her "wonder") later, after the January 21-day fast (she had written "house, January to April"), sent ₦6,000,000 with instructions to pay the contractor, follow the work, and "I don't need your body to help you." Tied to the 15 January throne-room word on sudden help.
• March, mother. Baby had intraventricular haemorrhage (blood where fluid should be in the brain), surgery at 7 days, drain device in the head. Pastor Jerry prayed over a video: nothing missing, nothing broken. After discharge they never found blood to drain. Device, expected to stay a year or more, came out before 3 months when it showed through the wound with no infection.
• Simpson (captions). Fifteen-plus years of heavy drinking; last drink 31 December 2024 crossover; sober from 1 January 2025. Real-estate marketing firm now developing. Lost first child (a boy) at birth; pastors said the wife had no womb; on the altar God gave a girl, then three miscarriages. They asked God to restore the boy. At nine months a CS was threatened; he did a dry fast, gave her communion in labour; boy born about 2:01, did not cry until the oxygen door opened, then cried. Mother survived a truck smash on the way with oil and goods lost but no broken bones. He passed discipleship and is joining a working unit.
• A wife (name not recovered). Husband smoked more than 18 years, then ate the weed in stew; after altar prayer, smoke-free and weed-free for more than two years. After two miscarriages (one after medicine given in a dream), a third pregnancy; on 2 July 2025 Pastor Jerry said "Don't be afraid. You will not lose this one." She took communion over her body after a dream of medicine inserted. Scan: baby boy. Voices of death before CS; three spinal injections failed; she shouted Arroi, saw herself told "go back," woke after a long surgery with her son.
• A couple married April 2022. Days after the wedding a native doctor called: someone brought their photos to a shrine to stop children and scatter the marriage. He hung up. Years of hormonal imbalance, herbs that nearly killed her, no pregnancy. Relocated to Abuja; NSPPD became morning devotion in a brother's house. First visit February; they asked to return with a baby. She dreamed Pastor Jerry told her to pick up a baby girl by the roadside. On 20 March he prayed over parents and said women believing for children should shout amen, "by this time next year carry your own babies." Positive test in April. Scan could not see gender because "the baby is crossing her legs"; they already knew. Baby girl on the altar. Second testimony: 7 April declaration "You will not cry over that which you have thanked the Lord for." Same day a wind (the one that blew a bus-terminal roof in Abuja) collapsed the PVC ceiling on the mother's back as she lifted the baby; then a scorpion on the child, no sting.

Pastor Charles, greeting: at 46 his wife had triplets (one year old by that Thursday).

Words of knowledge / healing declarations

• Help that is 20 years in one day; last-minute help; territorial, generational, sudden, timely help.
• Garments already outgrown, removed.
• Stones in kidney, blood, brain, any part of the body, drop off.
• Whatever was due in four weeks and shifted to three years, reversed; help is now.
• Second son with mental sickness, reversed.
• Dream siege of people taking what belongs to you, broken.
• Family pattern of everyone remaining average, reversed.

• By what God will do between now and Friday, everyone who knows you will bow to the lordship of Jesus.
• "What they are expecting to happen will not happen." Reverse by fire.

1. No human was configured to survive without the help of God. Men may help, but there is a limit. The help of man looks face, judges the past, consults people, and can be withdrawn. The help of God is limitless and does not ask who is against you.
2. Men will not truly help you until God helps you. When God has released help, doors and people align. Help also invites opposition: if they never stood against you, there may be no help on you. Help brands you.
3. Obedience is often the key that unlocks help. Men and women are gates, but the man who gave you money may not be the man who helped you. There is a word for help, an instruction for help, and an implement of help.
4. Be mindful of the dynamics. Any help that satisfies the body and destroys the spirit, any guilty pleasure, is not God-sent and is short-lived. God's help contains a seed that multiplies into more help. Never speak against people God used, even if they later became nasty. The help of God establishes the kingdom on earth; do not run with a "help" that eclipses your calling. God helps you so you can help others. The help of God grows: if He can trust you with this, He will help you more.
5. Sometimes He encapsulates the help, like a bitter capsule, because if you saw it raw it would overwhelm you. The process may not look good (shipwreck, cold, public viper), but you arrive at sweetness. When a season changes, kindle a fire; do not stay in the cold. Expose the viper and shake it off. You cannot be one with shame or negativity. Public affliction can be the setup for public testimony; they will look a great while, see no harm, and change their minds.
6. Help has already been released; prayer activates it. Prayerlessness is announcing that you can fix it yourself. Prayer also wakes you to identity so you give glory to God, not to the kind person who handed you 5,000. The only constant is God.
7. God cannot fully help you while you are chained to the wrong people, mindsets, or credit-takers. Light is revelation. Follow whom God points to. Discern when help has already arrived at the door; some will keep praying past the answer.
8. Sinking is not the end. One stretch of Jesus' hand reverses what was going down in present continuous. After He pulls you up, you still walk on the water. He does not throw you into the boat because you doubted.
9. God does not help according to your capacity but according to His capability. Help first builds stature, then things. Help is transgenerational. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of help. The little maid shows that warfare and influence can fail; revelation and the word settle it. You are one word of God away from your help. Run with the word even if you never meet the pastor one on one. Jordan may look dirty; Abana may look better; God uses what works, not what looks impressive. Revelation keeps you: the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
