WHEN GOD SHOWS MEN MERCY

The stream carries all four Sunday services at Streams of Joy Abuja under one theme, which Pastor Jerry renamed "Mercy Sunday": "This is one of those services God will use to package you for the rest of the year." Each service opens with worship, a set of "speak into the week" declarations built on mercy (Esther, Rachel, Bartimaeus, Ruth, Paul, the Shunammite, the widow of Nain, Mephibosheth, Elizabeth), and a prayer fire of "the blood of Jesus" against accusation, ordinances and voices from the father's house. The first service's altar call brings people forward shouting "And the Lord showed me mercy", with the day's cry repeated at least 21 times: "Arroi has shown me great mercy."

Pastor Jerry preached a different mercy text in each service. Service 1, 2 Samuel 9:1-8 (Mephibosheth): David wanted to show "the kindness of God" to a lame man from Lo-debar, "the place of no pasture", for Jonathan's sake. Mercy comes by covenant, not by performance, and God kept our side of the covenant for us. Mercy restores, but its main purpose is to seat you at the King's table so you stop "sounding like where I brought you from" and stop calling yourself a dead dog. Service 2, Luke 18:35-43 (Bartimaeus): "Show me mercy" summons all of God's compassion, bigger than the single request for sight. Bartimaeus called him "Son of David", not just "of Nazareth". Every rebuke raised his "mercy threshold", and mercy first brought him near, so after healing he followed Jesus. Service 3, Matthew 15:21-28 (the Syrophoenician woman): "Mercy is not what he does, it is who he is." Mercy is a bundle holding glory, grace and compassion (Exodus 33). God's mercy on Israel was vengeance on Egypt. You can receive mercy for your children, keep worshipping through God's silence, and "eat the crumbs" by connecting with people God has shown mercy rather than envying them. Service 4, Luke 17:11-19 (the ten lepers): mercy does not wait on proximity. The lepers spoke to his compassion, not their condition. Jesus sent them back into the city they had been cast out of, one word healed all ten, and the one who came back drew closer, so never get used to mercy.

Across the services Pastor Jerry gave words of knowledge: reversals of a broken rib, sudden inability to walk, blindness projected on two children, scoliosis, secondary infertility, a pending heart surgery, testicular cancer, an outflow tract obstruction, a lung tumour and bleeding from the navel. He also told one person given "one month to live" that they would live at least ten more years. He said the congregation would see strong evidence "before 2:00 p.m. tomorrow", that "before Wednesday you will be called by a new name", and that nobody would be mocked "before the last day of October".

Testimonies included a Canadian permanent residency granted 21 days after a word, a law graduate who got "double for her troubles" (called to the bar and married) and whose two-year-old revived after collapsing in a hot car, a woman freed after 18 years of a "spiritual husband", a Nollywood actor whose UK visa came through when seven colleagues were refused, a young man healed of kidney disease, heart failure and spinal TB, a daughter born with cerebral palsy who graduated with a first class degree, and a baby named Arroi born after four miscarriages. Each service closed with offering, the week's announcements, first-timer prayers and Psalm 91:1-2.

Theme and timing

• Theme: When God shows men mercy, which Pastor Jerry called "Mercy Sunday". Four services at Streams of Joy Abuja, each with its own text: 2 Samuel 9, Luke 18, Matthew 15, Luke 17.
• Day's cry: "And the Lord showed me mercy" / "Arroi has shown me great mercy" (declare it 21 times). A new song: "the God who was intentional to do good things for me, I'll be intentional about his praise."
• Year declaration (said in every service): "2025, nothing goes wrong around me... He sees to show me mercy daily... I am the apple of his eyes... Heaven and earth, my case is different. I have seen the God that sees me: Arroi." In the third service it was extended to "the remaining 12 days of October, the remaining 73 days of 2025".

This week on NSPPD

• Five days of "And the Lord said yes": perfection, completion, settlement.
• Monday: a Monday of settlement, of crossing every stubborn line, of family remembrance, of congratulations, of "10 years in one day", of new garments, of "and the Lord reversed it", and a "shake it off" Monday.
• Monday special prayers: miraculous conception, marital favour, major projects that stopped on the way, against career stagnation, for visibility, and for children. Tell anyone who needs these to be on the altar.
• Pastor Jerry: "Something great will happen tomorrow morning on the altar."

• Skip breakfast Monday to Friday this week, as for the whole of October (6 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Next Sunday (26 October 2025)

• Declaration: "My family, marriage and relationships are blessed. Nothing missing, nothing broken."
• Prayers for the right relationships to come and for wrong ("ya") people to be uprooted.
• Vow renewal service for married couples in the fourth service; husbands and wives should attend together. The announcement also said it would happen "in all our four services", so where it happens is unclear.

• Special prayers continue on the Pastor Jerry Eze Prayer WhatsApp channel. Monday's declaration there: "The devil will not have the final say."

• Offerings, tithes and partnership as a wave offering in each service. The asks were: name three areas where you want to see mercy this week, and declare where God has already shown you mercy.

Testimonies played / recapped

First service

• Beatrice (Canada): moved to Canada in 2020 on a study-then-work permit, and changing policies stalled her papers. Her sister introduced Streams of Joy; she was a Catholic who first watched it on fast forward. On 18 June a word said "in 21 days you will receive a testimony". On 9 July, day 21, at 11 a.m. an email asked for her passport, and on 25 July permanent residency was approved. She received the card on 1 October and flew in to testify.
• Chidimma (name uncertain, caption "Chidima Odyama"): failed her bar finals in 2020, the only one of a nine-person study group to fail. Her fiancé left her a week later. A word said God would give "double for your troubles". She was called to the bar in July 2023 and married in August 2023, and her long-childless sister-in-law then conceived. Later, with her five-week-old baby in the car, the car hit a culvert and did not somersault ("Arroi was in the car"; the baby's name is Arroi). After the dedication her two-year-old son Nathan was found in a car parked in the compound in the heat. He was unresponsive and "light as a leaf". She drove to hospital declaring the O prayer and "will not bury, will not be buried". The doctor said he had collapsed and "was already gone"; he revived. The baby is two months old today.
• Unnamed sister (Dubai / Abuja): went to Dubai in 2021, was put out of her job and company housing, and came back in 2025 with nothing and angry at God. After an NSPPD prayer the same company called back with a job. On 16 October she prayed the O prayer seriously, and the word was "on your birthday, what will claim your life will not come near you". Yesterday around 2:40 p.m. her brother's keke was hit by a trailer and two people died on the spot. He had only a scratch and his X-ray came out clean. She had also fought a "spiritual husband" for 18 years, had made many sacrifices, and had nearly given up on marriage. The 16 October word said: "you were told to make sacrifices... your mother said the same thing happened to her." She has slept peacefully every night since 16 October.

Second service

• Unnamed sister: 14 months without a job. Led to the altar at noon, she was let in by the security man and wept. A former colleague connected her to a job, and the offer arrived on a public holiday. Her 12-year-old said: "Finally God has remembered this family."
• Unnamed mother (Galadimawa road, Abuja): travelling on 30 December, she heard a voice say she would not see the three relatives who had not come to the airport. She recalled a late-December altar word that an "accident attack on three family members" was reversed. In turbulence she was woken to pray for her children. Her son, daughter and grandson were hit by a jeep and the car spun backwards seven times, with no oncoming traffic. All three were unhurt. Second testimony: her last child, born in 2001 with cerebral palsy (confirmed in India) and told to attend a special school, studied in Mauritius on NSPPD and graduated in July with a first class degree.
• Benedict Johnson (Nollywood actor): refused a UK visa in 2012 and again in 2023. Invited to a 1 October celebration in the UK, eight entertainers applied. He attended morning services in person. A word said: "you have been rejected visa twice and you submitted for the third time... that visa has been granted." Seven colleagues received refusal letters one by one. On Wednesday he was told to collect his passport, and at 2 p.m. the visa was confirmed.
• Sister from "Quir State" (state uncertain, possibly Kwara): got a promotion at a competitive workplace; was healed after a word about repeated trips to the toilet; a friend named Jerry married after 35. Her sister, who married at 43 and was told her pregnancy was fibroid, gave birth naturally at 44 on Monday 13 October, with no IVF. Her youngest sister finished a doctorate after nearly six years of delays. Her child came back from school unable to speak or recognise her, drooling and not eating, and was admitted for 5 days with no diagnosis. She gave the child holy communion at home and prayed. The child called her "Mommy", recognised her and is back in school.
• Unnamed brother: his 22-year-old cousin had been paralysed for 8 months and was in diapers. They prayed together daily at dawn. The cousin's stomach bloated, one hospital refused him and he was put on oxygen. At midnight the brother knelt on the road praying "Oh Lord, show me mercy", and the cousin's breathing stabilised. Diagnoses: chronic kidney disease, enlarged liver, heart failure, then tuberculosis of the spine with a 13-hour surgery planned. The surgery was postponed twice and then hit by a hospital strike. When done it took 3 hours and they "didn't see anything". The cousin now walks, and all four conditions are reversed. He prayed Job 5:12 over the pastor.

Third service

• Edidiong (caption "Edidio"): began taking the altar seriously after her husband left and she could hardly feed the children. After hearing a testimony of a job the woman "didn't apply for", she prayed for the same. A former colleague recommended her. She interviewed for head of enterprise sales, the offer came as group head of sales and marketing, and on day one she became head of business development. The package included a car and a driver, "five times my salary, seven digits", and an iPhone 15 she had seen in a dream. She expects an international job next.
• Joan Bullock (name uncertain): in 2021 she decided to move to the UK with 200,000 naira, "borrowed Papa's faith", and strangers paid her fees. She met her husband within a year and married exactly one year after meeting him. She went from support worker to a project planning job (about £50,000) after praying the "prayer of mercy" before a face-to-face interview. During the October fast a Friday word said "they will call you before 12 p.m. Nigerian time"; at 11:34 a missed call came from the company that had gone silent. The remote energy role came with a car and shares. She is the first graduate in her family, her sister has moved to the UK, and "now I give people money".
• Joy (name uncertain): had a chemical pregnancy in November 2023, then three miscarriages in 2024, one needing evacuation. On 11 or 13 November she was at the altar when the word was "receive your babies". Days later she tested positive. On 19 January fluid gushed out; she thanked God, used her mantle as a pad, and prayed the 13 November prayer again. By morning it had stopped, and scans showed an active baby. She refused 8 months of bed rest. Her son is 3 months old and named Arroi.

Words of knowledge / healing declarations

• Service 1: "Every broken rib, let it be reversed"; "Trumbo" (possibly thrombosis) abolished; "you suddenly woke up from sleep and could not walk on your two feet", reversed. Someone was being fought over a position at work. A "spirit of blindness" was projected on two children, one a year ago and one six months ago. A throne God gave you was carried "into darkness" so your voice would not be heard. "The medical report doesn't look good, but Arroi has shown you mercy."
• Service 1 (replayed in a testimony): "On your birthday, what will claim your life will never come near you... even if your birthday has passed."
• Service 3: the Lord is removing perpetual disappointment; reversing every scoliosis; secondary infertility reversed; "you are due for a heart surgery", reversed. The spirit of excellence taken from your children is restored. Something that happened at birth still affecting a child is reversed. A 10-year-old child keeps meeting snakes and vipers physically, not in dreams; that is broken. Testicular cancer reversed; outflow tract obstruction reversed. A pattern of one mentally unstable child in each sibling's family is reversed. Favour diverted to others is broken.
• Service 3 (at the offering): "They only gave you one month to live. The Lord said you will live up until the next 10 years." Consistent bleeding normalised; "they say there's a tumour in your lung, they lied"; bleeding from the navel reversed. "Before 2:00 p.m. tomorrow you will have a strong evidence of the mercy of God."
• Other prophetic words: "Before Wednesday you will be called by a new name"; "before the end of Wednesday may God shock them with new mercies from your life"; "before Friday the Lord will show his mercy upon you"; "before the last day of October the Lord will not allow them to mock you"; "this week there will be family congratulations".

1. Mercy is God's nature, not only his action. "Mercy is not what he does, it is who he is." You do not need God to like you or find you worthy; he is merciful. Even in his silence, and in what he withholds (like pulling a child back from a drain), his mercy is at work.
2. Mercy runs on covenant, not performance. Mephibosheth was shown kindness for Jonathan's sake. Our mercy comes from the covenant made the day we received Christ, and God kept our side of it for us. Anyone waiting for you to die, stay single or stay childless must wait for that covenant to break.
3. God's justice has room for the weak. Justice and judgment are the foundation of his throne, but mercy goes before him. He knows we are dust, cares more about your future than your past, and his mercies are new each morning. Knowing the God of judgment without the God of mercy gives a lopsided picture of God.
4. Mercy seats you at the table; it does not just restore. The goal is intimacy and a changed mind: stop sounding like Lo-debar and calling yourself a dead dog, and do not come out of shame only to keep feeding on fear. At the throne of grace, first see where you are (the comma after "grace"), then obtain.
5. "Show me mercy" is a blank cheque. It summons all of God's compassion, the "womb" of mercy (the Hebrew racham and chesed he promised to teach), even for areas you do not yet know need it.
6. Opposition is raw material for mercy. Every mockery, disappointment and "shut up" raises the "mercy threshold". God may let people fail you so you stop trusting man; they are playing a script God wrote. Never let a situation shut your mouth.
7. Mercy draws you near, and the healed should follow. Bartimaeus followed Jesus after receiving his sight, and the one leper came back and fell at his feet. Blessings should not make you disappear from the altar, and worship must not depend on what God gives.
8. Mercy for you is vengeance for your enemies. Jubilee and the day of vengeance come together. What was mercy for Israel was judgment for Egypt.
9. Mercy can be received for others, and its crumbs can be shared. Parents can obtain mercy for their children. When God shows others mercy, connect and rejoice instead of envying or gossiping, because one word fixes everyone under it.
10. Act like mercy has been given. The lepers were cleansed on the way. Move, call and walk out like someone God has shown mercy, even before it shows.
11. Never get used to mercy. Thank God for the small things as signs of bigger ones. Also thank the people God used, because his mercy makes others show you mercy. And since you are a product of mercy, never show others wickedness.

• Walk out and act like mercy has come: call again, send the SMS, go back to the doctor as someone God has shown mercy. Keep moving towards what he said.
• Keep worshipping through silence. Do not let situations shut your mouth, and cry out more when rebuked.
• Connect with and celebrate people God has shown mercy; no envy or gossip.
• Thank God for every mercy, big or small, and thank the people he used to help you. Never show wickedness, having received mercy.
• Give offerings, tithes and partnership as a wave offering.
• Fill in and submit testimony forms or video testimonies; if God has answered, "come and pay your vow".
• First-timers: fill in the usher forms and hand them in.
