Summary

This was the Wednesday "Oh Lord, show me mercy" altar on Day 3 of the week themed "God of Wonders, God of Answers, God of Glory", and Pastor Jerry called it "our first mercy prayer after our 14-day fast". It opened with a long chant of "Mercy, Lord" and a cry to Arroi: "My father, I come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain grace and mercy to help in time of need." From there the prayer moved through the mercy psalms: satisfy us early with your mercy "from July to December", look upon me as you used to do to those who love your name, our eyes are on you as a servant watches the master's hand. He prayed for those going "from one hospital to another, from one terminal disease to another, from one guilt to another", for the one "hiding their pain with a smile", and for anyone who feels they have come to the end of the road.

The teaching thread was that mercy is God's compassion rising on behalf of those who have run out of their own strength: "We have prayed, we have believed, we have fasted. Right now, show me mercy." Like blind Bartimaeus, the ten lepers and the Syrophoenician woman, the church cried "Jesus, mercy." He reminded them that Jesus healed the multitude because He was moved with compassion, that Elizabeth's neighbours rejoiced because "the Lord showed her great mercy" ("when mercy comes, there's a rejoicing"), and that by the scent of water a cut-down tree will sprout again. "When everything fails, mercy never fails."

Words of knowledge followed, each closed with "the devil is a liar, by the mercies of God, let it be reversed": acral lentiginous melanoma, dextrocardia, glioblastoma, a prolapsed lumbar disc, ventricular arrhythmia, autodigestion of the pancreas, depression, the trauma of a child who watched a father kill a mother, and five sisters fasting against a lack of marital favour. Pastor G (Pastor Guru, as captioned) and Pastor K declared mercy over the congregation, and Pastor Jerry gave the day's narration: "I am the definition of God's great mercy." Prophetically he announced that the Egyptians seen before would be seen no more, that "mercy has swallowed judgment", and that tears of joy would come within hours or days.

The recorded testimonies were a young woman healed of lichen planus, a single mother delivered from years of smoking and drug addiction and of anger, and Eugene, who won a fully funded MFA place in the United States with a salaried job. After the salvation call and three communions, the service closed with Pastor Jerry recounting two fresh wonders from the 7 a.m. altar: a clinically dead mother who came back to life five minutes after the prayer was played beside her, and a man who stood up from the stretcher a few hours after brain surgery when doctors said he would not walk. The announcement block pointed everyone to the NSPPD America Prayer Conference in Atlanta three days later.

Testimonies played / recapped

  • Annie Leigh Michelle (name as captioned): moved to Lagos and developed a spreading skin reaction, swollen legs, migraines and unbearable itching; misdiagnosed as bacterial infection and scabies, then diagnosed by a dermatologist with lichen planus, an autoimmune disease. Back in Port Harcourt, a neighbour even suggested drinking urine. Her mother told her only God could help. She began praying and did her first ever 21-day fast in the new year fast, while Pastor Jerry kept declaring "autoimmune disease, be reversed". Her skin is clearing, only scars remain, and she can walk and go out again after 3-4 months indoors.
  • Single mother, Lagos: after her six-year marriage ended in divorce, she became addicted to smoking, weed and molly, renting hotel rooms to hide it from her two children. She dismissed the NSPPD link a friend sent ("he is making noise") until her daughter was found crying while listening to the prayer "Lord, show mercy upon those who are in addiction." Fire went through her and she stopped all of it. On 28 May a word about anger and hate in the heart, then a WhatsApp channel word on restoring the emotions, broke her rage. On 19 June, before her birthday, she was attacked in her sleep and collapsed; her young son declared over her ("you will not eat my mother's flesh") and prayed over water she drank. Nothing has gone wrong since and she celebrated her birthday.
  • Eugene, from Anambra State (captioned "Anra state"): gave his life to Christ at the Streams of Joy altar in August 2024. Applying for an MFA in theatre in the US, he emailed lecturers for two weeks until an associate professor replied for the dean; she turned out to head the department. His converted CGPA was 2.4 against a 3.0 requirement; he answered "what God cannot do does not exist". Required to sit an English test, he took Duolingo after four practice runs and scored 130 of 160. At a second Zoom interview over the last funded slot he asked why he did not qualify and then argued why he did. At 2 a.m. on 25 March, before his 26 March birthday, the email came: admission to the Department of Theatre with a full tuition waiver (about $44,000), health insurance waived, and employment at $27,000 a year.
  • Pastor Jerry's recap (7 a.m. altar, three weeks earlier): a word of knowledge told someone beside a dead woman to turn up the phone volume and place it beside her. The mother had been confirmed clinically dead; nothing happened at the end of the prayer and the daughter questioned God, but five minutes later the mother came back to life.
  • Brain cancer surgery: a wife whose husband had brain cancer surgery was told he would be unconscious for six months and might never walk. She answered "what God cannot do does not exist", was reported to her brother-in-law for it, went into the ICU, called his name, and he opened his eyes a few hours after surgery. When staff removed the window blinds to pass the stretcher out because the door was too narrow, the man stood up on his feet.

Important message

  1. When everything fails, mercy never fails. Mercy is God's compassion rising with a holy jealousy, a God who cannot watch you cry or watch oppression continue, and no mountain can block it.
  2. Our own labour, strength and connections have limits ("we are not as strong as they are, we do not know who they know"); mercy covers weakness, failure and shortcoming. "I have prayed, I have believed, I have fasted. Right now, show me mercy."
  3. Jesus is a high priest touched with our infirmities; He healed the multitude because of compassion, and the same compassion is at work on the altar today.
  4. When mercy comes there is rejoicing: stolen laughter and joy are restored, and what was cut down rises again from the hospital bed, from shame, rejection, delay and pain.
  5. Mercy has swallowed judgment, pain, distress and warfare; the accuser is silenced, guilt is dropped, and old chapters close as a new one opens.
  6. "You are the definition of God's great mercy": wherever your name is mentioned, mercy answers; in the boardroom, mercy is your advocate.
  7. God will show His power so that people say, "The Lord has helped this one." We are in a revival of the strange acts of God, so the world can no longer ask "where is your God?"
  8. The greatest miracle is a changed life, and happy is the family where everybody knows the altar, because they know what to do in critical times. A younger generation is growing up knowing the power of God.
  9. Faith is now, not tomorrow; there is no need to settle for less, because what God has given we can possess.
