'WHEN THE LORD HELPS A MAN' SERVICE
'WHEN THE LORD HELPS A MAN' SERVICE || SUNDAY SERVICE || 4TH MAY 2025
You are already helped by God: receive his word, mix it with faith, take Jesus back into your ship and thank him for the five loaves, because the net may break and the ship may try to sink, but no fish will be lost.

Summary
The first Sunday of May at Streams of Joy Abuja was the "When the Lord Helps a Man" service, run as four services (7:00, 8:30, 10:15 and 11:45 a.m.), each with its own praise, prophetic declarations over the week, a sermon from a different passage, an anointing with oil, offering, announcements and a welcome for first timers and new members. The day opened on Zechariah 4:7 ("grace, grace unto it") and Hebrews 4:16 ("grace to help in time of need"), and the cry that returned in every service came from Isaiah 50:9: "The Lord has helped me. Who shall condemn me? They will wax old like a garment and the moth shall eat them up." The congregation was sent out each time to tell 14, 15 or 21 people "I have been helped by God."
The foundation Pastor Jerry laid in the first service is that a believer in Christ is "already helped", sanctified, healed, filled with the Spirit, "not destitutes looking up to an angry God", but "a helped man calling forth the manifestation." From Luke 5 he taught that God often routes help through a destiny assignment (Jesus borrowed Peter's boat before filling it), that when God helps a man "all he sends you is a word" (the colon in Luke 5:5: we caught nothing because we had no word), that "the net may break, the ship may try to sink, but no fish will be lost", and that harvest is shared with koinonos, true partners, and always carries a purpose. In the second service, from Joshua 5-6, he taught that when manna ceases, Canaan is ahead; that Joshua saw the captain of the Lord's host before he dealt with Jericho ("Lord, I see you"); that a new season needs a unique instruction; and that the victory was "already done" and only needed possessing. The third service, from Matthew 14, said a word received must be mixed with faith, that the one who sank "will walk on the sea again", that God teaches in the storm, and that the wind ceased only when Jesus entered the ship: "take him back to the ship." The fourth, from John 6, said Jesus "already knew what to do", that thanksgiving is the protocol of multiplication, that God's help has an agenda (bread remained, not fish), that provision passes through the hands of people (so "be nice"), and that the fragments of help must be gathered, not wasted.
Words of knowledge ran through the day: stage four kidney disease with fluid drained from the kidney, HPV, a growth spreading over the body, deafness in two family members, heart palpitations, pus from both ears, a four-year-old who does not talk, liver tumour and liver cancer, genotype change, abnormal bone growth in the nose, depression, and a family sickness that will not take another member. Each service ended with oil: enthronement, advancement, termination of battles, and elevation.
Testimonies came in three groups: a woman who had never been employed given a directorship; Israel from Finland whose deportation was reversed into a permit; Dr J. Edward Salami from the United States, whose loan and real estate were paid off; a mother whose two babies were taken during a pharmacy robbery and brought back by a stranger; a communications officer lifted from a toxic job to a UN post in Ethiopia and then a senior fixed-term role in Nigeria; a young woman whose twisted intestine resolved on the morning of surgery; and a woman from Lagos healed of more than two years of abnormal bleeding at the Lagos programme on 9 February.
The announcements pointed to Fullness of Answers, the NSPPD covenant day of answers and global crusade, on Monday 5 May with fasting 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., and to next Sunday's Take Over the Gates power and dominion service on 11 May.

Testimonies played / recapped
Second service
- Entrepreneur from Kwara State (caption "Quir State", uncertain): self-employed since finishing university in 2009, through a master's and PhD start. Lay on the altar at the September/October dedication service and asked to come back with a paid job; prayed daily with the WhatsApp channel. Last week was given a directorship though she had never been employed; on orientation she was put in charge of recruitment. Officially resumes 5 May.
- Israel, from Finland: left Ukraine in the war without a permit, refused by several European countries and given negative decisions in Finland. Got a job whose trial was cut short into a permanent contract, applied for a permit with a refugee passport though police said it was "illegal" and he faced an entry ban. Was four days late for deportation yet sent home; the officer on his case was removed. On the last Friday of the year Pastor Jerry said "this year will not end till you receive your evidence"; an hour later an email said a decision was made, and four days later he received his residence permit.
Third service
- Dr J. Edward Salami, United States, led to NSPPD by a former Muslim girl: doubted at first, then in 2023 a loan of 2.5 million was paid off; quit a job in July 2024 to join all four services and got one that let her listen at 1-2 a.m.; on 12 December 2024 her commercial and personal real estate were paid off by a destiny helper.
- Mother of two (likely Mrs Vera Anthony): had lost a child before and committed her children to God after membership class and partnership. During an armed robbery at a pharmacy she was locked in the injection room; outside, her two children (aged two and one) had been taken. That morning's NSPPD word was "new attacks, new arrows, new conspiracies be destroyed; every journey of shame and calamity terminated." A man walked up carrying both babies, found on the road after the gunshots.
- Communications professional, just back from Ethiopia: after a mental breakdown in a toxic job where a new supervisor sacked colleagues one by one, she asked God in a dream who a real man of God was and dreamt of Pastor Jerry preaching at Lokogoma junction. Printed her CV and credentials and laid them on the altar. Seven days later she was given a UN consultancy in Ethiopia with no interview (after a word on 2 June 2024 about a garment of disgrace at the workplace). In December she prayed again and received a senior UN fixed-term contract in Nigeria, filling the post of a man with 35 years' experience and a PhD.
Fourth service
- Ebeaka (caption spelling): sudden severe pain; X-ray and CT showed a twisted intestine; four previous surgeries. Her mother moved her to another hospital rather than "service negativity with our money". After four days on a drip, dressed for theatre on Monday morning, the doctor examined her once more and found her better; she tolerated juice, tea and pap and was discharged with her intestine normal.
- Chidima Onazi (caption "Anazi"), from Lagos: abnormal bleeding since August 2022, 10-20 days at a time, fainting, blood level below 20%, scans found no name for it. At the Lagos programme on 9 February 2025 she was healed during the 1-2 p.m. prayer, the same ground where her sister-in-law was healed of bleeding that lasted one year two months. Waited for evidence; her periods are now normal.
Words of knowledge / healing declarations
- First service: stage four kidney disease, fluid being drained from the kidney, reversed; deliverance from failure at the edge of breakthrough; something "spreading all over your body", getting bigger, reversed; HPV taken away; two family members deaf in one ear; someone running away with your garment of celebration; "no other member of your family will suffer from that sickness that killed one of your family members"; a breakthrough within 48 hours; debts cancelled and what you are saving for given as a gift.
- Second service: "God is healing your mother right now"; a second son causing worry; increasing heart palpitations; pus coming from both ears; five angels sent ahead to hand back all you need within 15 days; "you will not be the architect of your own destruction", the power to say no; help against fibroid, ovarian disease and hormonal imbalance.
- Third service: a visa approved again; "you are getting married this year; it will not exceed the month of June" (caption "Juno"); "you will walk on the sea again".
- Fourth service: a four-year-old child who does not talk and cannot see; tumours in the liver; "genotypes are changing"; liver cancer; abnormal bone growth in the nose; weeks of depression broken; dream attacks that cause physical disappointment; "you are enough... you just need me"; fire outbreaks cancelled; a child who chokes while eating; anything that slowed down finances reversed.
Important message
- You are already helped. In Christ you are sanctified, healed, filled with the Spirit and anointed; this service is about calling forth the manifestation of help that already exists, not begging an angry or moody God.
- Help is routed through your assignment. Jesus asked for Peter's boat before he filled it. Much of your help sits in your prayer life, the word and your service in God's house, and God "is not unrighteous to forget your work".
- When God helps a man, he sends a word. Peter caught nothing because he had no word; "your reality does not validate the word, it is the word that creates your reality." A word that kicks inside you during study is your word.
- The net may break, the ship may try to sink, but no fish will be lost. Arrows and conspiracies rise when God starts helping, but what God has ordained will not be lost; some nets break so you know the fish came by the word.
- Harvest is for koinonos, and every help has a purpose. Not everyone belongs in your season of harvest; true partners share belief, dream and loyalty. Peter left the miracle for the purpose: "Don't enjoy the help and forget the purpose."
- When manna ceases, Canaan is ahead. A closed season, a lost job or a broken relationship can be the sign of a bigger season; stop running back to the wilderness and stop talking about the manna.
- See the Lord before you see Jericho. Joshua met the captain of the Lord's host before the walls; do not let Jericho drive your revelation of God. Drop your own sword; only his is needed.
- New seasons need new instructions, and it is already done. "I have given into thy hand Jericho": the instruction makes manifest what God has completed. Walk round it as possession, and speak in line with what you are possessing.
- Help is a product of God's capability, not your capacity, and it moves in mercy. It is always bigger than you prayed; even enemies and rocks can help you. "God, I beg."
- A word must be mixed with faith, and the word you receive today will be tested by tomorrow morning. Yet when faith fails, "Lord, save me" is enough; Jesus comes closer to the one who is sinking.
- You will walk on the sea again. Having sunk once does not end the journey; this time he holds your hand while the same wind still blows.
- Learn in the storm, and take Jesus back to the ship. The wind ceased when Jesus entered the boat. Carry what he said into your marriage, career and business; the storm knows him, and he now lives in you, so speak like him.
- He already knows what to do, and thanksgiving is the protocol of multiplication. Thank him for five loaves; remember when today's life was a prayer point.
- God's help has an agenda. Bread was asked for and bread remained; do not covet the overflow God did not send help for.
- Provision passes through the hands of men, so be nice. Rudeness can cost you the person carrying your loaves; serving in church is no licence for it.
- Gather the fragments. Do not waste help, contacts, opportunities or honour; never forget that a sweet spirit brought you where you are.
What he asks of us
Today / this season
- Declare "The Lord has helped me; who shall condemn me?" and tell 14, 15 or 21 people "I have been helped by God."
- Take your destiny assignment seriously: pray, read the word beyond Sunday, serve in God's house. Pray "Father, help me to take it serious."
- Write it everywhere: "The net may break, the ship may try to sink, but no fish will be lost," and say it over every letter, report or date that looks wrong.
- Pray "Lord, I see you" and "When manna ceases, open my understanding to see the Canaan ahead"; stop rehearsing what failed.
- Mix the word you received with faith; call family members and declare help over them; take the word into your ship (career, marriage, business) and "still the storm".
- Thank God intentionally for the help you already have; be kind and grateful to everyone (waiters, drivers who let you pass, customers); do not waste help or opportunities.
- Anoint your head with the oil prayed over in your service.
- Give offering, tithe and partnership; support the church building project.
- First timers fill in the visitor forms; pick up testimony forms and do not keep back your testimony.
- Join the Pastor Jerry Eze Prayer WhatsApp channel (QR code) and turn on notifications.
